Environment is the sum total of all the living organisms, including natural forces and other non living things. Environment consists of biotic and abiotic factors. Biotic factors include living organisms and abiotic factors include non living organisms.Environmental around us is getting degraded day by day, mainly due to the increase in the combustion of harmful gases in the atmosphere. Just as the rest of the world, I too feel deeply concerned about the depletion of the ozone layer.
What will happen to the earth if it is completely exhausted? What misery will befall mankind in the absence of this precious gas! Survival of mankind will be impossible in it’s absence. The harmful UV rays will reduce us to ailing masses of dying flesh as the presumed effect on the incidence of skin cancer and eye diseases would be dramatic.
Can we not start using eco friendly house cleaning products to make a small contribution to conserve this thin and fragile life saving layer? Car pooling, taking public transport, walking, using bicycle would limit the usage of individual transportation leading to a safer environment. Sustainable development is without any doubt, the need of the hour.
Let us not act as if we are not a part of the natural environment. Let us not treat mother earth as a faraway farm or unlimited junkyard.
The damages have far exceeded the self recovery capacity of the natural environment leading to unusual occurances of natural disasters, such as floods caused by extreme weather and outbreaks of plague, that endanger the survival of the earth. Let us maintain and ration the resources for sustainable development. There is not an unlimited supply of anything in this world and plans for sustainability must be made by all stakeholders.
