We have been studying about our Mother Earth dying since we were kids. We as a generation have the benefit of knowing what's happening to the climate and the planet and we also are lucky enough to have a chance to save it. It's high time now that we take a firm step towards our nature's protection and let the earth breathe again.

1. Raise your voice

Whether your family members who are none the wiser or its in your office, school even on road, wherever you see people wasting water or throwing plastic, raise your voice. Don't shout on them or make them feel small. Educate them. Let them know what they can do to remedy it.

Let your government officials know if there is something wrong around you which is hurting the environment. Piles of garbage, waste water flowing into rivers, whatever you see going wrong, stop and try to correct it.

2. Travel smart

Going to buy some groceries at the Mart near your house? Walk there. Choose to cycle of walk more than driving around. Try to use public transport whenever you can and as much as you can.

Instead of travelling through a quick flight which makes tremendous effect on you carbon footprint, try to take a train back. Try to burn as less fossil fuels as you can. Mother Nature doesn't have it in abundance and the air is getting clogged with it's pollutants anyway.

3. Eat better

Instead of grabbing a quick bite at a multichain restaurant, try making a meal for yourself at home. Choose to buy more vegetables and fruits than processed food and meat.

In functions such as marriages and parties, try to reduce the amount of wastage of food. Food industry and agriculture is a major cause of green house gases and deforestation. The better your choices are, the greener the planet would become.

4. Decrease the amount of waste

Instead of using one-time use things, opt for more eco-friendly options such as cloth bags for shopping instead of plastic bags, wooden or steel straws instead of the plastic ones. Eat in china instead of using disposable places and cutlery. Recycle your waste. You can even try some DIY projects. Try making a pot for your plants from the bottles or use the old mason jars to decorate your home, the options are endless. A small step towards change everyday can benefit the earth tremendously.

5. Do some homework before shopping

As a consumer, use your rights and ask the companies from which you buy products to explain to you the manufacturing of the said product. Research on the Internet and then make the decision. Buying from a company which tests on animals or hurts the rivers and land around it should be avoided.

Use products which are eco-friendly and biodegradable. Make sure that the company follows the government's rules and puts efforts to make the planet a better place.

6. Use energy efficient bulbs

It's pocket friendly as well, so why not? Use the bulbs which last longer and are energy efficient. The green house gases which are emitted from these artificial light sources is literally making holes in the Ozone layer of atmosphere. Ozone layer protect us from the UV rays of the sun which can cause skin cancer and other skin diseases.

Also, remember to put off lights and fans whenever they are not in use.

7. Make goals

Pledge to yourself that you will try to make the planet a better place for the forthcoming generations. Make small aims such as I'll plant a tree on every birthday or that I'll use public transport for a month or I'll walk if I've to go anywhere under a couple of kilometres radius.

Small aims, small goals can truly result in a better and healthier tomorrow.
