Festivals are a part of every culture. Various festivities have different roots, reasons, and rituals. But, all celebrations are a source of joy for everyone participating in it. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Of course. For some, the beauty may lie in the enormity of the belief that the worshippers keep o their god. For some, it might be in the silent communication between a large group of people. But, There are some festivals which are a visual treat for everyone.

Here are some of the festivals which might want you to have more than one set of eyes to watch all that is going on.

1. Dia Di Muertos – Mexico|November

Day of the Dead, or Dia de Muertos,is the day of celebrating the lives of those that have passed away. You might've seen this festival in the movie Coco. The families put up a shrine for the dead family members. It is believed that the dead are given a window of one day to come into the world of living to reconnect with their family. The main square of Zocalo is filled with traditional shrines made up of marigold flowers and there will also be a stage on which all kinds of music will be played. At night, people will be wearing scary costumes and try to scare everyone. From 2016, there is an annual parade with beautiful floats and brightly costumed dancers. Though it is a day for the family, it is also very colourful.

2. Yee Peng - Thailand | November

The Yee Peng or Yi Peng is a lantern festival celebrated in Thailand where thousands of floating lanterns are let into the sky on the day of the festival. It is meant to symbolize letting our bad luck float away from us. The lanterns are made of rice paper and bamboo sticks. A candle is placed in the lantern and the hot air is trapped by the paper and the lantern floats. If the lantern goes out of sight before the candle goes out, then your year will be filled with good luck. Something about being surrounded by thousands of beautifully created floating lanterns with words of good luck will surely make anyone feel as if they are in a magical place.

3. Hanami - Japan | March/April

Hanami or the cherry blossom viewing festival is a festival held in Japan at the start of spring when the cherry blossoms bloom. The cherry blossoms are said to represent human life as they are fragile and last only for a short time. It is one of the oldest festivals of Japan and it is still held with the same enthusiasm. In the beginning, it was a festival to view the plum blossoms, then the cherry blossoms. Now it has turned into a day of picnickingunder the beautiful cherry blossom trees. The cherry blossoms are a rare beauty where they are beautiful as a single flower and also beautiful as a bunch from afar. The falling petals of the flowers when you walk under the canopy of trees will surely make you feel like a princess.
