What will you call a person who loves to visit new places?Well, if I am right, this type of person is called Travel freak but what will you call a person who has traveled only to explore religious places? In this case, I think no name has been decided to give to such a person. Well, frankly speaking, I am such a person and I love to travel to religious places because I am always excited about the history of such places and their value in our religion. Today, I am going to talk about a religious place in Himachal Pradesh- Land of Gods. Himachal Pradesh is considered as God's favorite place in Hindu Religion because most of the religious places are located in Himachal. “Chamunda Devi Temple”, old and divide temple located near Dharamshala in Kangra valley of Himachal shares an important place in Hindu religion with other 52 temples that are related to goddess Sati, wife of Lord Shiva. According to ancient Hindu mythology, Goddess Sati was a devotee of Lord Shiva and wanted to marry him but her father opposed it because according to him, Lord Shiva was not worthy of his daughter. Due to her father's opposition, she jumped in holy fire and all her body parts scattered, and fell to earth in different places, the total being 52 such places. 'Chamunda Devi Temple' is one of these holy places. Talking about its scenic beauty, this place is situated in the mountains near Palampur in Kangra Valley. The actual temple is located at a remote place so the new temple was built at the current location. This temple has a history behind its nameas well. It is believed that Goddess Durga, in her Kaliavatar, killed two demons named 'Chanda' and 'Munda' who werethe leadersof the army of demons. That is how the name 'Chamunda' came. The idol of Goddess Kali, located in this temple is covered in red cloth and red sindur. It is believed that the idol is so powerful that no one sees it uncovered by naked eyes. To visit the original temple, one has to cover a quite long distance on foot but one can visit the current temple through bus or car. The temperature of this place is a little cold during winter and normal during summer. The best time to visit this place is from July to October.
