Milk, White or Dark, everyone has their favourite shade of chocolate. But what unifies the chocolate lovers is a jar of love, fondly known as “Nutella”. From breakfast tables, Bedroom floors (lol) , Office counters or School Canteens; this treat is a winner all the way!
We always find ourselves pondering over the side effects that chocolate intake can cause. Also, many of us are under the assumption that chocolate only serves well – TO OUR TASTEBUDS and nothing else! But however, scientifically it’s proven that chocolate houses quite a few benefits starting from appetite control, mood elevation, increase energy, stress relief and so on. (Yay)
Well in today’s world it’s hard to trust a lot of products because it’s hard to trust the ingredients used in the factories, the methods of processing and also the major usage of preservatives. So a lot of our favorite treats, including NUTELLA can be subjected towards such thoughts.
So here’s a homemade recipe to make your own nutella, using fine ingredients available at the store with NO PRESERVATIVES or HAMRFUL PROCESSING METHODS. Let’s check it out.
What’s required?
1.One cup of Hazelnuts
2.Two tbsp of Oil
3.Three tbsp of Confectioner sugar
4.One tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa powder
5.Half a tbsp of salt
6.Ten ounces of milk chocolate
7.Food processor (for better consistency)
8.Mason Jar (optional)
·You can use cane sugar or regular sugar instead of confectioner sugar. But however, it’ll leave a gritty texture.
·You can choose an oil of your choice. It could be coconut, vegetable or even hazelnut oil (stronger taste)
·You can make the nutella with just 5 ounces of chocolate only, if you’re not a fan of extreme chocolaty taste.
·Also, you can opt for a blender in case you don’t have a food processor at home.
Instructions
1.First step would be to roast the hazelnuts. So lay them over a baking sheet and roast them in the oven for 8 minutes at 400 degrees. (Watch the hazelnuts at intervals so that they don’t get burnt)
2.You can see that the hazelnut skins are burnt and have blisters on them. This makes it easier to peel off the skin.
3.Now place the nuts onto a kitchen towel, wrap them and then roll them over until you think almost all the skin’s off. If there’s some extra skin still remaining, scrape it off using your fingers.
4.Now empty all the hazelnuts into the food processor and turn it on. Keep it going for about three minutes until you get the perfect consistency. (Stop and scrape the sides in between)
5.Add 2 tbsp of oil into the bowl and turn the motor on.
6.Next up is vanilla extract. Pour into the processor and continue blending.
7.Add sugar and cocoa powder into the processor and again turn the motor on.
8.Lastly, we’ve to melt the chocolate and then add it into the processor. Blend it for 20-30 seconds and no more. (You can also add a bit of dark chocolate instead of 10 ounces of complete milk chocolate)
9.Empty the puree into a mason jar or any glass container of your choice.
10.Refrigerate.
And thus, you have in hand - the ultimate homemade nutella! This jar can serve up to 2 weeks. But in most cases, lasting for one week can itself be a task! :D
So try out this easy and fun recipe at your home. Because, be it Happiness, Boredom, Annoyance or Sadness – Nutella is one go-to treat we’re all up for! TOODLES!
