The Remake Of The Century: The Lion King Trailer

The film, produced by Walt Disney Pictures director Jon Favreau, is a photo realistic, computer animated movie featuring high profile personalities such as Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, and James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa. Hans Zimmer is also returning to score the film, while Elton John is coming back to rework some of his original compositions

In the trailer, we can see what look like the opening moments of the movie, in which Rafiki presents a young Simba to the animals of the Pride Lands, with the quintessential shot of Simba being hoisted above the rock. All the while, James Earl Jones’ narration as Mufasa plays while the original film’s opening track, “Circle of Life,” can be heard in the background. The film is scheduled to come out on July 19th, 2019.

However, many speculate if it will be worth the wait and if it can in anyway beat what was already one of the best Disney animated movies ever. Memories of a happy childhood definitely include the memory of watching the Lion King for the first time ever as a child. Mixed feelings arise from most people wondering if the new remake would either make or break the deal. Many people believe that it is best left untouched while others are waiting to see how modern computer graphics and animations can make what was one of the biggest animated movie blockbusters, a blockbuster again. Personally, I have watched The Lion King on a VCR playing cassettes for too many times than I can remember as a child who had nothing better to do (definitely not complaining!) and yet it always seemed to hold me in its something -of- a very intriguing plot. I am actually in fact looking forward to see the new and reborn version of it and complain about how much I miss being a care free child!
