And Some Things Never Go Planned...

Durga Puja was knocking at the door and Pihu couldn't be happier. After all, it was her first pujo after she got into a relationship with her long time crush Ritesh.

Pihu have had feelings for Ritesh ever since they first met probably, in the most unromantic way possible if I may add, in a tuition class with an irritating teacher and crappy classmates. Although they never really spoke much but Pihu's heart never failed to do a somersault whenever he glanced at her. After years of keeping feelings muddled up inside her, she finally confessed and when she received the green signal from Ritesh, she could not be happier. She had immediately called up her best friend and they had shed some tears of happiness together. That night Pihu couldn't sleep as she continuously tossed and turned in her bed wondering how did she get so lucky to have the man of her dreams.

They had decided to meet this Durga Puja and you won't believe that this was the first time they were meeting since they started dating, 3 months ago. But they didn't have any option - they didn't go to that tuition anymore and Pihu's parents were strict and Durga Puja was the only time she was allowed to go out with her friends.

They had decided to meet on Saptami at College Square. Pihu would come with her best friend Kajal and her boyfriend Varun ( Theirs was another beautiful love story * wink *)

The night before she sat down to decide everything. The way she will smile when she meets him and then maybe hug him or maybe let him make the first move. The things she will tell him and how she will not get flustered on seeing him and just be cool as she is with her friends.

Suddenly her phone rang. It was her best friend Kajal.
" Bro ready for tomorrow?", Kajal chirped.
"Yes bro but I'm so nervous. I just wish I don't make a fool of myself in front of him", Pihu replied.

" You'll do fine Pihu. Relax ", Kajal said.
And then they spoke for hours deciding the perfect outfit for Pihu, her hairstyle, jewellery and what not.

By the time they had finished talking, Pihu was already exhausted and she just wished everything goes as planned.

Just then her phone beeped with a text from Ritesh.
" Can't wait for tomorrow! "
Every text from Ritesh had this magical ability to make her blush and grin.
She quickly replied, "Same here ❤"
With the morning rays of Saptami, the time had finally arrived when Pihu would meet Ritesh, the first time since they had started dating.

The entire ride Pihu framed her introductory speech and narrated it to Kajal a zillion times.
As they reached College Square and Pihu spotted Ritesh in his crisp white shirt and dark denim pants, her heart did a flip and a swarm of butterflies were left loose in her stomach. It was like the first day he had smiled at her. As Ritesh neared her, all those rehearsed speech began to fade away.

None of them could speak. They just stood there looking at each other with 'dhaaker awaj' in the background and the aroma of 'shiuli ful' all around, letting their eyes do all the communication. Some things just never go planned.....
