F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is a popular American sitcom that aired 14 years ago for almost a decade. The content, characters, themes and plot of the show was loved so much that it is still loved by millions all over the globe. The main story of the show revolves around 6 friends: Chandler, Monica, Ross, Rachel, Phoebe and Joey.

Apart from giving us countless memories, F.R.I.E.N.D.S. taught some valuable life lessons also, so let us look at what we got to learn from each F.R.I.E.N.D.S. characters

Rachel Greene

Rachel Greene was a spoilt daughter of Dr. Greene before ending up as a waitress in a coffee house, ‘Central Perk’. However, with her strong will and dedication, Rachel was able to pursue a career in fashion, teaching us following things:

  • It is okay to be a little pampered at times

  • Hard Work is the key to success

  • If you are determined you can achieve almost anything in life.

  • Being a single mother is the most beautiful thing in the world.

  • If you follow your passion you can achieve sure success.

  • And, learning Grammar is important as:

Y-O-U-R means YOUR and Y-O-U-‘-R-E means YOU ARE.

Monica Geller

The mother hen of the group, with a compulsive and obsessive attitude who used to be obese during college days, ended up with everything a character could possibly dream of. She got a perfect family consisting of Chandler, and her twins, a good house and a perfect career.

Her character arc taught us:

  • It is okay to be a little competitive

  • Always believe in yourself

  • True love is hard to find

  • Love is more important than perfectionism.

  • Good things take time.

Ross Geller

The character that suffered through three failed marriages, a mental breakdown and took a break from his long time crush, Rachel Greene, taught us the following things:

  • No matter what people say, do what you love in

  • It is never too late to do anything that is correct

  • Always control your temper, especially in your workplace or you could end up in some serious trouble.

  • Always read the terms and conditions of your relationship, before agreeing to anything

  • Remember names of people, you are with.

Joey Tribbiani

Joey Tribbiani, the womanizer who got a job as Dr. Drake Remoray in Days of Our Life, ended up losing the role due to his hyper verbal attitude, but eventually got hired back, although with a new brain. But, during the show, he taught us the following things.

  • Friendship is invaluable, always respect and help your friends

  • Food is important and nobody should share their share: Joey doesn’t share food!!!

  • It is okay to show your sensitive side to the world

  • Always be true to yourself

  • Think before you speak!!Always.

Phoebe Buffay

The craziest person in the group, Phoebe Buffay faced a traumatizing childhood, family problems, and what not. However, she was not only street smart but also high on her principles and a little weird who despite many unfavorable circumstances married her love at first sight, Mike Hannigan.

Pheebs taught us:

  • It is okay to be different from others

  • Your choices define you in hard times

  • Do whatever you like no matter what the world says.

Chandler Bing

Chandler Bing, the Sarcasm King ended up with Monica Geller who refused to even date him if he was the last man on the planet. He quit his secured job as a transponster! Actually a Data Analyst in an IT firm to intern in advertising agency all because of his passion for the profession.

He taught us:

  • It is okay to be sarcastic at times

  • Always have confidence in yourself.

  • Your choices, are what that define you, not your circumstances

  • No matter what, follow your passion.

Television is always considered as a form of entertainment, but as they say:

Inspiration can come from anywhere

So, isn’t it awesome when the inspiration actually comes from your favorite sitcom, F.R.I.E.N.D.S.?
