Horror is a genre of films that is beloved especially among the teenagers and youngsters. While many people dispose the idea of horror genre there are the adventure seekers who wish to watch such kind of films. No offence, but the truth is that Bollywood clearly lacks in giving its audience a good horror film, a film that is scary enough to keep you on the edge of your seats throughout its runtime.
Some famous Hollywood directors like James Wan, John Carpenter, etc. however seem to grab the big fish in this context and were able to deliver the movies that manage to scare the living lights out of many.
The Conjuring (2013)
The movie that kick started the Conjuring Universe and is based on true story and case of the famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The film, with IMDb rating of 7.3 was spooky enough to scare even the bravest out there and many cinema halls even arranged for special counseling sessions for the audiences. There were many reports of people being disturbed that strict warning signs were displayed everywhere the film was shown.
This film follows the life of the Perron family, which includes a couple, their five daughters and their dog who on moving to a new house experience strange events which are triggered by the presence of a demon named ‘Bathsheba’, who possess the mother.
Filled with scary moments and spooky music, this film is a treat to watch for those who loves horror genre of films.
The Conjuring 2(2016)
A direct sequel of the 2013, Conjuring, this film has an IMDb rating of 7.4. The Conjuring 2, is based on another real life case of Ed and Lorraine Warren and ties back to the infamous Amityville Horror as well. The film features the evil nun Valak, and the Crooked Man for the first time in the Conjuring Universe and deals with the fact that how the Warrens get a family out from the clutches of Valak, when the stakes are higher than ever as the evil entity is after the life of Ed Warren.
Directed by James Wan, this film is regarded as one of the best films in the horror genre.
The Nun (2018)
The Nun serves as a prequel and showcases the origin story of the demonic nun Valak, who is summoned from hell into an abbey and creates havoc leading to unholy circumstances. The plot then revolves around a priest and a novitiate nun and how they summon back the demonic entity back to hell.
The film is filled with jump scare moments and the character of demonic entity Valak, was acclaimed with critical praise. There were numerous reports of people experiencing strange phenomenon during the runtime of films especially during night shows. So, it is definitely a treat to watch for those who seek thrill and adventure in spooky experiences.
Annabelle: Creation (2017)
Annabelle: Creation is another movie of the Conjuring Universe and is tied up to the events of The Conjuring. The film follows the story of a couple who are doll makers and a couple of orphan girls. A demonic entity possesses one of the dolls and is locked inside a room, which is set free when one of the girls unlocks the room in the night. This demon then haunts the residents of the family and takes the soul of the girl who unlocked it, leading to the creation of the infamous Annabelle doll.
This Annabelle doll exists in the real world and is locked carefully inside a museum, where people have reported strange phenomenon. This movie also features the demonic nun Valak, whose story is considered to be the darkest chapter in the Conjuring Universe.
It (2017)
It, is another horror film that follows the adventures of some kids who are bullied by others, and how they come together to defeat a shape – shifting demonic entity, Penny who takes form of a clown. Set in the year 1989 in a small town of Derry, this film holds a strong IMDb rating of 7.4. Based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, the film is a must watch if you want to get some spooky experience for yourself.
The best horror movies are those, which force you to turn your lights ON!! While sleeping, which force you to hold until the last second, to attend nature’s call during night time, which forces you to always run for your beds after turning the lights OFF.
