1. Bara Imambara
The Bara Imambara or Bhool Bhulaiyya is one of the most important tourist attractions of Lucknow, owing to its historical importance, however this ancient monument is also famous for its ghostly haunting equally. It is believed that this monument was built during a severe famine and many people especially the labourers lost their lives while constructing this monument, and their spirits haunt the place.
2. Sikandra Bagh
Sikandra Bagh, is a place of utmost historical importance and the place played an important role during the war of independence. The Britishers killed thousands of Indian protesters and locked their bodies inside the premises. Since then it is believed that the spirits of these people haunt the place, many dwellers have reported voices of mysterious people crying for help.
3. OEL House
During the British rule the OEL house which was the residence of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, fell into the hands of Britishers. The Britishers carried out mass murder in the palace and then buried the bodies in a well. Since then the place is believed to be haunted by the spirits of those people, however years later the family of Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University started residing in the place over looking all the evidence of the place being haunted but a boy playfully threw some stones in that well and then he was killed mysteriously. After that incident, the well is locked for ever, with proper rituals and people have claimed to witness mysterious happenings.
4. Railway Quarters
A colonial house that was the house of a British Officer in the Railway Quarters is believed to be haunted. The story behind the haunting is, once upon a time there was a railway officer whose wife had an extramarital affair, when he came to know about the fact he killed his wife and her lover and then committed suicide. Since then the spirit of the officer is believed to haunt the place.Many people have claimed to see mysterious creature having an appearance of a white British man, just like that of the officer walking down the corridors at night.
5. Balrampur Hospital
Balrampur Hospital is a well known hospital in the city, but it is said to be built on a graveyard. Many of the patients and even the staff members have witnessed paranormal activities. Mysterious footsteps are often heard by the patients and their visitors in the corridors especially during the night time. The hospital staff members have also claimed to hear mysterious voices and have heard mysterious people crying for help. 6. Nirala Nagar
Nirala Nagar is a newly built locality in the city but it is believed that it’s constructed on a graveyard and that massive construction in the place awakened the spirits of the dead who were resting in peace inside their graves.The habitants of the place have witnessed mysterious creatures that appear and disappear during the night. The residents have claimed to hear crying voices of women and children that are disturbing and frightening suddenly at night.
