Crimes against women are increasing day by day in India. These crimes include physical as well as mental abuse which include sexual assault and domestic abuse. Rape is the fourth most common crime against women in India. Such crimes are at hype in India in present situation. In India rape is considered to be a woman's shame. Victims are afraid to report a FIR aganist such crimes. When politicians and common people blame a woman for her rape it reflects what Indian society feeds its men and rape is a consequence of this feeding.

The union territiry of delhi reported the highest crime rate. such crimes outrage the modesty of not just the victim but also of the society.

Some of the rape cases which gained momentum are mentioned below-

2017 Asifa Rape Case in Kathua where a 8 year old innocnet girl was raped.
2012 Nirbhaya fatal gang rape case
2013 Mumbai rape case- Shakti Mills gang rape of a phtotojournalist.

Indian Penal Code(IPC) deals with the crimes against women. Section 376 of IPC talks about punishment for rape which states that it should not be for less than 10 years and may extend to life imprisonment and the person is also liable to fine or both whatever the case maybe. There are rarest of the rare cases where death sentence is given to the rapists. Courts in Madhya Pradesh applied amendmenst of 2018 for death penalty of rapists for rape of children below 12 years of age. Bomaby high court on 03 June 2019 upheld death penalty for offendors repeating rape under amendment of section 376(e) of IPC.

To execute the above mentioned punishments properly, whcih is not done in India ,what is needed the most is, victim support programes. With great faith in the system victims would come forward to register the crimes that occured with them and would find justice ultimately.
