If We Are Not Imaginative Then We Are Worms Who Have Not Lived

I used to play at Pirates,

And sailed the seven seas.

Then I was a cowboy,

These simple things did me please,

I had a vivid imagination,

Adventure was always on my mind.

I discovered the joys of reading,

And escaped the daily grind.

Once I lived with the Eskimos,

In the land of ice and snow,

Went hunting and a fishing,

My fantasy was all aglow.

I read a book of Jules Verne,

And went off to the moon,

It was just to take a look,

Then it was time to return.

I spent time in the forests of Africa,

With Dr. Livingstone as my guide,

Then off again to America,

With Huckleberry Finn I did hide.

In my world of fantasy and imagination,

I performed such wonderful deeds.

A Hero of all the Nations,

I was the one that did succeed.

Then I grew up my childish world at an end.

I had become serious it nearly drove me around the bend.

I still do like the mysterious,

This is the message I am trying to send.

Bernard Shaw

This poem of Bernard Shaw reminds me about our childhood where we were told the stories about fairies, about the mystical lands, dwarfs, dragons and we used to imagine all that stuff and that makes us believe that Alice and her Wonderland was real. The Hogwarts was a part of our own world.

Imagination is the thing which gives birth to creativity which is rarely found these days in people. The power of imagination is an ability to form a mental image of something that is not perceived through senses, objects or events that do not exist, are not present or have happened in the past. Everyone possess certain degrees of imagination. Some can quiver their imagination across the seven seas and some cannot even imagine a scenario.

Imagination makes it possible to experience a whole world inside the mind. It gives us the ability to look at any situation from a different point of view and to mentally explore the past and the future. When I was in class twelfth, we were thought a story, The Bet by Anton P Chekhov which includes two men-a banker and a lawyer and an insane bet that death penalty is better than life imprisonment because humans being a social animal cannot survive solitude but the banker defies the lawyer. He lived in a room alone only with his books and imagination. He had traveled throughout the world with his imagination, loved people, hunted animals. The power of imagination was very well depicted in a story written by Chekhov.

In your imagination, you can travel anywhere with the speed of light without any obstacles. It can make you feel free, though temporarily and only in the mind, from task difficulties and unpleasant circumstances.

Imagination is often mistaken as daydreaming and unpractical but on the other hand, it is the thing that gives you hope and the power to create and change the circumstances. Lack of imagining things often leads to unhappiness and suffering that people experience. They expect the worst and when they fail they believe that fate is against them. Do not just imagine also put your imagination into work which will turn impossible into I am possible.
