sahapedia fellowship is one of the initiative of UNESCO . This sahapedia fellowship was first initiated in 2003.

Sahapedia fellowship is issued for the p.h.d or above qualified students which are having their future works in the the research related topics .Also there are a number of different criterias for it to apply in it like there is limited time to show the work result .students are required to write and submit about their work in about 500word . on the basic of this report the applications are being selected by the UNESCO.

The UNESCO accepts the fellowship in the following languages:- English, Hindi , Bangla, Tamil, Malayalam

This fellowship is available for the post graduated and above qualified in the disciplines of the Humanities and social sciences in the broadest sense. Also this fellowship is only available for those students who holds an Indian bank account.

The candidates which were previously awarded for this sahapedia fellowship cannot again apply for it. The fellowship should be completed in the time frame of twenty eight days, failure to submit the fellowship requirements within the given time period will result in the cancellation of the fellowship.

The Sahapedia fellowship is divide into different categories like research, documentaion , or the combination of both.Depending on their choiice students can select their deliverables from the list given on the official site of Sahapedia fellowship.

The selected candidates are awarded with the amount of RS 44,445.Applicable incomtax is deducted from the source amount as per the provisions of the Income Tax act ,1961.Thus awarded amount becomes RS40,000 , which is delivered in three installments based on the completion of the specific deliverables.

Also the selected candidates work in regional languages will receive an extra amount of RS10,000.

To provide enthusiasts, students and scholars an opportunity to remain in touch with and explore India’s rich cultural heritage, Sahapedia is very grateful to announce the third edition of its Fellowship programme this year.

The materials requied for the submission in the application are

1.Resume

2.A proposal of approximately 1000 words, along with an abstract of about 250 words.

The proposal should indicate scope of work, including selection of deliverables, methodology, timeframe and familiarity with existing literature/work on the subject. The proposal should be related to the field of work conducted by Sahapedia.

3.A writing sample (previously written essay) of at least 1500 words (for Research), or provideURL link of a 5–10 minute long video clip indicating the candidates’ skills in filmmaking/videography (for documentation), or both, depending on the selection of deliverables

4.Bibliography/list of existing literature or work on the topic with no more than 15 items/titles.

UNESCO’s Convention for the safety of the Intangible Cultural Heritage 2003 (referred to as UNESCO 2003 Convention hereafter), refers to “the importance of the intangible cultural heritage as a mainspring of cultural diversity and a guarantee of sustainable development.” The Sahapedia–UNESCO Fellowship is part of our efforts to increase awarenessat local, national and international levels of the importance of intangible heritage, and increase access to communities, groupsand individuals. The Sahapedia UNESCO Fellowship 2019 is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

This fellowship would encourage the scolors to conduct documentation and critical research in diverse areas of cultural knowledge, while interacting with and enhancing networks that contribute to their creation. The works in research and documentation carried out by the Fellows will be shown on the Sahapedia’s web portal.
