Being educated is the requirement of the era. It is just not the way to get the job; instead, it is a tool that builds glint to one’s personality. Unfortunately, India is a lag behind in achieving this where illiteracy is one of the severe evil prevailing in Indian society. This is one of the reasons that India is still demonstrated as a developing country.
Benightedness is one of the core elements ruling to more illiterates. Especially, Girl's education is the primary factor being ignored and hence, lifting the data of illiterates up.
Low-income rate leads to lower disposable income in the hands of people. Due to which people are not able to arouse expenses of higher education.
Poverty is directly proportionate in initiating illiteracy. The urge of earning bread and butter to earn livelihood forces them to beg. Due to lack of literacy, they have no other source of income, and eventually, it accelerates the statistics of poverty and illiteracy.
How to Eradicate Illiteracy?
The government is providing numerous free education facilities to the BPL (Below Poverty Line) people. For whom poverty is the major impediment in availing literacy. It offers various initiatives like mid-day, free uniform and scholarships meal to attract sick children that are not going school out of lack of money and time and indulging themselves into dreadful activities such as begging or stealing to satisfy the fire of hunger.
The government has also announced various financial help, support, and awards to the family that is sending their daughters to school, The government has launched multiple schemes too like Sarva Sikhsha Abhiyan, which provides free educational services to the various students, mid-day meal schemes, etc.
But all we cant blame govt to improve all the, being a citizen it's our prime duty to make our people literate as well as to fight against evils like poverty, unemployment. Everyone should try to contribute to them towards the country's prosperity and development.

Many people like to think of it as just a process to gain skills and expertise necessary for getting a job, but in reality, it values is far beyond that, education makes a person civilized, gives them the power to distinguish between right and wrong.Even though training provides an individual with a competitive advantage in the job market, that is not all that it does. Going to schools plays a significant role in the mental as well as social development of a person. The lessons learned and the experiences that a person gains in school prepare him or her for their survival.
