Career options for students studying English

Students pursuing engineering will come out as Engineers, students pursuing architecture will come out as architectures, students pursuing psychology will come out as psychologist. Now the question comes for the one's who are pursuing English, people usually consider English as a subject often pursued by those who are weak in studies or who are looking forward for fancy and fashionable subject and questions like, What will these students come out as? What do they study? Do they have any future after this course and many more come up.

So here is the answer to all these questions.
First and the foremost thing students pursuing English in their bacholrs degree will come out as “Literary Critiques” and obviously if you are planning to pursue English then you should know that you will not be taught grammar, phonetics, or small stories the way you were taught till class twelfth by CBSE Boards, no English Literature is totally different and ofcourse not a cake walk as many people think and if you scored above average marks in your twelfth boards then choosing English Honours thinking you are going to rock that stream then maybe you are again wrong because it's not everybody's cup of tea.

Now coming up with what all can you do with your degree of English literature:
1- Journalism- As journalism demands good analytical skills, basic general knowledge from different fields and most importantly good communication skills hence for English students journalism is a perfect fit. One can go for journalism after completing graduation in English.

2- Mass communication- Mass communication is like an umbrella word because it covers many different filds like journalism, editing, advertisement department, media planning and many more. According to me mass communication is the most preferred field after English honours and of course it demands very students who are flexible with English, so this is also a good option for English students.

3- Content writing and Blogging- Here comes my favorite career option after completing graduation in English. This is one the courses where no one can do better than English students. You can create your own blog where you can write on different topics and if you think that you are not good enough in expressing your views and feelings then you can also start blogs that have different subjects like fashion, travelling, beauty and many more. If you think you are capable enough in expressing your views through your words than content writing is actually what you should of course hit on.

And the list is endless, you can go on with many more different fields and English students are not meant to be compared with any other field because every subject has it's own importance. Nor every student pursuing B.tech ends up as an engineer neither every student studying medical ends up becoming a doctor. Hence stop following stereotypical idea of our society and pursue with the subject which you feel you can do and you are good at.
