A Train Journey That Opened My Eyes

Deblina Roy.

In the vacation of my semester break, I was packing my bag and baggage for returning home. I was too much excited but also very sad for leaving the hostel. Hostel life is a very different life. Anybody who does not leave in a hostel, he would never understand about it. After leaving the hostel, I took an auto to reach the railway station. The distance between the railway station to my place was very short. A local train took, near about one hour to reach this place. So I borrowed a ticket and caught a local train. The train was very much crowded, there was no seats and also not proper place for standing. I don’t like the ladies compartment , because I hate the gossips about anybody’s personal matters, so I ignore this. After rising in the compartment I placed my bag and baggage . Then I started to saw the people in compartment . Suddenly I saw a old woman with some bamboo sticks , sitting in front of the door. She had a very hungry face , anybody can understand this . She also had a packets of biscuits but she hold it in her hand without eating this . Her cloth was very dirty . Some times after, the next station came and the train stopped for a while. Then , the old woman left the compartment. My eyes was busy to search her. Then I found her, she was giving the packet of the biscuits to her old husband. After giving the packet of biscuits , she gone to fill the water bottle for him. He was handicapped but she did everything to understand him that he is very normal. I can not say anything about it . First time I saw that the love is more important than hunger. In this society , where relationships are very much temporary , I found the real definition of love . That day I started to help the poors more than before. And it was an immemorable memory for me. Now a days it’s very difficult to find that type of partner moreover that type of love.
