Rabdi

Another winter delight coming your way. Rabdi, milk-based dessert only available in winters to devour. It is nothing but sweetened and thickened milk garnished with dry fruits on top and served in kulhads. With loads of creamy layers, it is a little fattening but nobody can resist its charms. There are a variety of combinations in which you can eat it like rabdi-jalebi or rabdi with gulab jamun. In West Bengal, Misti doi is somewhat similar to this but with no dry fruits on top of it. This is one of its type and if you are traveling to India make sure you get a taste of it.

Jalebi

You must have seen people devouring some coil like a sweet dish. Well, this coil like sweet dish is none other than Jalebi. This coil-shaped dessert is made by deep frying of flour and then dipping it in the sugar syrup. Piping hot Jalebis taste the best. There are many accompaniments people eat with it but if eat it alone, it is the best. It is more popular in North India than in the rest of the country.

Ghevar

You will this delicacy on every sweet shop in Rajasthan in winters. This filigreed delicacy is a compulsory distributed during Teej festival in Rajasthan. You will just keep licking your fingers if once you tasted this delicacy dripping chashni from it.

Ras Malai

One of the favorite sweet dish for Bengalis. It is a juicy dessert as the name suggest ras means juice and malai mean cream. It is a creamy dough made of Indian cottage cheese soaked in a thick sweetened condensed milk. It is so soft, spongy and creamy that after having one you cannot resist to have another.

Kulfi

The Indian version of ice cream. In early years people didn’t know what ice cream was but they knew what kulfi was. Kulfi is much creamier than ice cream making it still a favorite among the Indians. Initially, you will find only one flavor that is elaichi (cardamom) but now there are more flavors coming like chocolate, mango, etc. at many places you will find that kulfi is served with falooda which is nothing but some thin noodles and dried fruits given together with kulfi.

Rasgulla

These spherical dumplings are a specialty of West Bengal. You will find them in every Bengali festivals, weddings. These spongy white balls are made of cottage cheese, semolina and dipped in sugar syrup. They are soft and creamy and very spongy. Just by seeing them, you will feel your mouth watering.

India is a land with vast and diverse cuisine. You will find such a variety of foods and desserts all over India. If you are a travel plus food lover, then India is the country for you to travel to.
