When everything that's wrong threatens to take over
When the mountains stand tall, making you feel like you don't belong here
When everything seems to push you deeper into the lowland,
Into the valley, the pit of dirt and sand
May you find peace in your broken fragments
May they remind you that you are not your own
And through this journey of learning and living
Remember that you are not alone
The valley has pain, has tears too
But it's not a bad place,
It's one that shapes you
And with all the things you had to go through
The valley gave you strength, it's where you grew
One day, when you stand on top of the hill,
Above the very same mountains that tried to push you down.
May you look back at the valley the rain would fill
Where you learned to swim when you thought you'd drown.
Where you learned to believe with all your soul
That you were only being broken so you could be made whole.

Valleys. Not the greatest place to be. Considered the lows, the setbacks, the not so happy places. Ironically, this is exactly where you grow the most despite the fact that you don’t want to be here. Sometimes, the mountains give you such a sense of achievement and pride that you get swallowed by the success. You tend to become someone you’re not. That’s why I like the valleys. You know who you are. The weak, vulnerable, hopeful individual that is being shaped by all that is thrown at him or her. The mountains aren’t a bad place but when you’re in the valleys you have only two things to look at. It’s either the mountains before you or the sky above. Similarly, when we’re struggling, we have two things to look at. We could either look at our problem that looks as impossible as a mountain or we could look up to God. Believing that He holds our lives. Throughout our lives, we will have both mountain and valley experiences. But if the valley experiences seem to be more, take it positively, it only means more growth. If you don’t learn to walk through the valleys, you won’t be grateful when you reach the mountains. One day you’ll understand that the various valleys you crossed were to live the many victories you deserve. You were only being broken so you could be made whole.
