If you had watched the web series "Made in Heaven" you might have loved the character Tara Khanna. Ambitious, hard working, talented, intelligent, emotional but at the same time calculated. Her character is written beautifully. It's not completely flawless. It's less flawed and more complex.
Although, her husband funds her start up, Tara leaves no stone unturned along with her business partner and friend Karan to keep up their game in the wedding planning and event management market. Tara hails from a lower middle class family. She joins as a P.A to Adil Khanna, her then boss. Eventually she gets married to him because, their intimate video gets leaked. But it is only in the climax episode of pilot season we get to know, that she herself leaked that video, in order to get hitched with Adil.
Now those who have seen "Avengers:End Game" might remember Natasha Romanoff's a.k.a Black Widow's last few words "I don't judge people on their worst mistakes."This is something we all , together as the human kind must learn. Tara might have being unethical in that specific situation, but it's incorrect to judge her on that single incident.
In the seventh episode of Season One, Tara defends the mehendi girl, who was molested by the groom's father. Also in the next episode, she helps her office peon for his daughter's marriage and celebrates it according to the bride's wish without taking a single penny. If you think you can judge a person based on single incident, then according to these incidents, Tara is one of the most virtuos and generous woman in the world. But it doesn't work that way. Character is a complex phenomenon which can't be judgedor predicted or criticized according to any criteria, because it doesn't have any specific criteria. It differs from person to person.
This type of characterization which Tara posesses is very much suitable these days. In this world and age of modern problems, work load and lack of personal time, the basic ethical and moral values are very rare to be found. People find you weird when you try to be a morally and ethically well behaved person. The majority are not even a tad like it , so according to democracy, majority wins and you're labellled a freak.
In relative terms, there's nothing wrong in being less flawed more complex. It has its own ups and downs. People can't be subjected to ethical scrutiny for their job, or even as a security measure. When the standards of food products and services are relative, then why can't the moral status of a person be in the same way?
In this 21st century, many a few of the millenial generation knowingly or unknowingly belong to the same subset of people. They often try to change themselves in order to be better. But the important thing is "to be you" rather than "to be good".People have to accept themselves. If not for them, atleast for the people who love them.
