The first impression that we get when we hear about “LAW” is a bit serious one, a bit alarming too, we begin to think about the crimes, the fines and what not!

But chill! Here you will come to know about some handful of laws around the world that are so strange, it’s hard to believe they’re real or even necessary!

1.Suspiciously holding a salmon in the UK.

The UK parliament passed the great Salmon Act in 1986. It dubbed illegal to hold a salmon under suspicious circumstances. Sounds fishy!!

2.Whistling in Canada

The city of Petrolia in Ontario has a different law to curb noise pollution. The rule states that no yelling, shouting, whistling, or singing is allowed at anytime of the day. Hmm…

3.Having your chickens cross the road in Georgia

If you live in Quitman, Georgia, and you own poultry, then you must keep an eye on them 24x7. Sounds funny? This law was postulated primarily for the owners to have their chickens under control at all times.

4.Pink pant-danger in Australia

In Australia, it’s prohibited to appear in public places wearing pink pants on Sundays after noon! Now, I wonder what a trouble Pink Panther would have faced. LOL!

5.Don’t Feed Pigeons

Since 2008, it’s been illegal to feed pigeons in St. Mark’s square in Venice, because this practice destroys historical monuments. Besides,birds are known to carry various dangerous diseases.

6.Japan says NO to Obesity

In Japan, in 2008, this country decided to implement an annual waist size rule among citizens aged 40-74 (not more than 86cm [33.5in] for men and 90cm [35.5in] for women). That’s a great initiative by Japan to fight obesity and its associated diseases. In2015, those who “failed to follow the rules” were fined.

7.Spain says no to flip-flops

Don’t wear flip-flops when driving. You know this one makes sense for drivers everywhere, doesn’t it? If you’ve ever tripped out of your flip-flops, imagine what it would be like to lose control of your feet while putting the pedal to the metal.

8.Greece regulates your choice of footwear

It is prohibited to wear high heels at archaeological sites.The amount of pressure that just one pair of stiletto exerts on an ancient stone and marble will be significant if we multiply it by endless tourists over the decades. Sites like the Acropolis are already facing a bitter result. So Alertttt!! Pack the comfy ones only!

9.No Human-Monkeys Allowed in Canada

Yes, you heard it right! In Oshawa, Ontario, punishment is just a step away if you try to climb a tree. We won’t disturb you monkeys!!

10. In Milan, Italy, don’t dare to frown!

In Milan, it is illegal for citizens to frown in public places—unless they’re at a funeral ceremony or visiting someone admitted in the hospital.
