Media has a strong impact on people and the films indeed play a role in spreading social awareness. Movies of now are proving their worth in all aspects. The Bollywood movies that have been successful in spreading social message are,

TOILET- EK PREM KATHA

Released in 2017, this movie shares a powerful social campaign named ‘Clean India Campaign,’ spreading awareness regarding the use of the toilet and the importance of building toilets in every home. No one before has even initiated this topic.

PINK

Released in 2016, Pink brought a very strong message portraying the condition of our society where women are regarded as objects to be used. The movie talks about the choices women make and about respecting them.

DANGAL

The movie provides you with more than one message. First and foremost protection and nurturing of a girl child. The film also teaches us not to stop yearning, even after you fail you should see your dream, even if it's not from your eye. Never stop dreaming. The movie inspires us to aspire and succeed in whatever we do.

TAARE ZAMEEN PAR

Released in 2007, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR shows the hardship of a boy suffering from dyslexia. It shows the harsh reality of how our society treats a person who is suffering from a certain mental disorder. The story revolves around the boy and his pain and sufferings. The movie did full justice in presenting a worthy message in front of society.

Rajkumar Hirani gave a quite strong social message through this movie about friendship and social pressure felt by the students. The movie says Chase Excellence and Success will follow you, Believe in Your Self (All is well) and Always have few idiot friends with you. This movie is an inspiration which tells us to do work with passion and choice.

The movie starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, where Akshay plays the antagonist opposite Rajinikanth, shares the message that no one should mess with nature and that every creature on the planet has the right to live. "The planet not only belongs to the human race but also to animals and birds. Though animals and plants cannot raise their voice against human beings, they have the right to live. So, do not spoil the mother nature." Akshay Kumar said. This movie is originally shot in 3D format and it gives out the message in a very impressive way.

Padman

A 2018 Indian comedy-drama film, inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham is based on the Short story "The Sanitary Man of Sacred Land." The movie shows the struggle of females in our country on maintaining hygiene during menstruation. The females do not get general hygienic facilities like sanitary pads and therefore Arunachalam invented a low-cost sanitary pad making machine and helped spread awareness about traditional unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India.
