When you picture South Korea, you think of technology, kdramas and obviously k-pop. But these are not the only thing the country is famous for its also famous across the world for something we all love, “food”.

Now, like all the cuisines of Asian countries, Korean food is not for everyone but when given a chance, a lot of people have come to love it and that’s why it’s found in a lot of restaurants across the globe. Now, here are some of the most famous South Korean delicacies (some of them are really mouth-watering):

·Kimchi
This dish is probably the most famous of them all, primarily it’s just a side dish and is made of fermented vegetables. Now as I said before it’s not for everyone and the liking varies from person to person as it has a unique taste but has a nutritional value because of its high fibre content and low calorie content. The most common ingredient that is used in kimchi, is cabbage but sometimes it’s also made of radish. This dish is almost a compulsion in every Korean household as it goes with just about anything as a side dish.

·Bulgogi
The name of the dish may sound really weird but rest assured the dish doesn’t taste anything like its name. This dish is primarily grilled marinated beef, it’s quite juicy and savoury and hence is one of the most famous Korean dishes in the world. As Koreans usually eat a lot of meat a lot of their dishes have meat in them (which is quite obvious). It is often grilled with garlic and sliced onions to add flavor to the meat and is usually wrapped in lettuce and it is also traditionally eaten with a thick, red spicy paste.

·Korean Seaweed Soup
This dish also known as “miyeok guk” by Koreans is a highly nutritious dish whose primary ingredient is sea mustard also known as brown seaweed. This soup is usually accompanied by some sort of protein like, beef, seafood – mussels or prawns, or tinned tuna and is often eaten by Koreans on their birthdays. Hence, it’s also called “birthday soup”.

Now you might be wondering how I left Ramen out, that’s because it’s a sort of fast food and is usually just like our “Maggie noodles” and even though the dish is really famous all over the world it’s not as good as the dishes I have mentioned above.

P.S: Thanks to Swiggy and Zomato, you can now check the availability of Korean cuisine in restaurants in your city and relish on them.
