"The world is not destroyed by those who do evil but by those who watch them without doing anything"

Is terrorism India's enemy? Or Pakistan?
No, the enemy lies within the country i.e. 'CORRUPTION'.
Corruption can be defined as an act of bribery or misuse of public position or power for fulfilment of selfish motives to gain personal gratifications. Leaders like Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel are a rare breed to find these days. Those who are honest can now be counted on fingers. Even the ones who are honest are being compelled to be dishonest & take bribes. Earlier bribe was a medium or a tool to get some illegal work done but now even mundane chores can't be completed without it. It is the only means to get any work done timely be it making of passports, driving license or admission in a school. Talking about corruption reminds us not only at national level but these small level things are also quite relevant as it form the basis for corruption.

TYPES OF CORRUPTION

Corruption means state of being dishonest in any aspect. It can be categorised in three types namely-

  1. Political corruption, which includes murder, kidnapping, injustice etc.

  2. Administrative corruption, which includes persons like higher authorities, officers etc.

  3. Professional corruption, related to duplication of medicines, adulteration etc.

Money makes the mare go. Thus, corruption is a menace whose tentacles are spread all over the nation & whose roots are deepening over passage of time & it shallows the India's bureaucratic system. According to International monetary fund, the world wastes upto $ 2 trillion in corruption i.e. 2 percent of world's GDP. In recent centuries, India has earned a place among these most corrupt countries in the world. Corruption was seen before the advent of 2010 Common Wealth games. The Bofors pay off scandal of 1986 involved a total amount of Rs. 1750 crore in purchase of guns from Swedish firm for army. The suit against Robert Vadra for the scam is going on for almost a decade but still in vain as nothing has been proved.

SOLUTIONS

Isn't the fact that India is one of the most corrupt countries shameful for all Indians? Corruption is a menace whose roots are strengthening even more & needs to be cured at the earliest. Despite of decade of progress in establishing anti-corruption laws, situation is more or less the same. One needs to start from himself first. Make sure that you are honest and that there is one less rascal in the world. The onus lies on the shoulder of youth to stop corruption else the word developing will be attached before our nation forever. Do ensure that you are neither at the receiving end nor at the bribing end. Also, international Anti-corruption day is observed on December 9. Anti-corruption agencies such as RTI should act actively & media can play a vital role. Prevention of corruption act 1988 needs to be fostered as one thing is crystal clear that unles people pledge to eradicate corruption themselves, this evil will prevail & will not cease to exist.

CONCLUSION

Corruption is a social evil & intractable problem. It can only be controlled, but can't be totally eliminated.

" Power tends to corrupt & absolute power corrupts absolutely."
"A strong youth movement in the country only can remove corruption & each student should take a vow to begin this exercise courageously within the family." Said by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Let's start an initiative to make an 'ANTI-CORRUPTION NATION'!!
