Asian cities, and particularly that of India are powering ahead in terms of GDP than the major urban cities.

In the period of 2019-2035, top 10 fastest growing cities will all be from india, according to the research of Oxford institute of Economics.

1.) Surat, a city in Gujarat state is expected to have a GDP growth of 9.2% in the period. The city is known for producing textiles ( including silk ). Because of this, it is known as textile hub of the country. Surat is also biggest centre for Man - made fibre. Also known for diamond processing and having strong IT sector.

2.) Agra, the city in Uttar Pradesh, home to the beautiful Taj Mahal will grow by the rate of 8.6%. Knownfor its handicraft products, shoes and leather based work, it is also a popular place to find marble items.

3.) Known as the India's Silicon Valley, Bengaluru in Karnataka will be on the third spot with 8.5% growth every year due to technology boom and start-up businesses. It is also nicknamed the Garden City and was also called Pensioner's Paradise. It is also the third populous city.

4.) Hyderabad, Telangana, another tech hub of india will grow by the rate 8.47%. The city is known for its monuments namely Charminar and the fort of Golconda.

5.) Nagpur, Maharashtra, also known as the Green city of India is going to grow rapidly at the rate of 8.41%

6.) Tirruppur in Tamil Nadu will be growing by the rate 8.36% in the period 2019-35

7.) Rajkot in Gujarat will be on the seventh spot with the growing rate of 8.33%.

8.) Tirruchilappalli will secure 8th spot with the growth rate of 8.29%

9.) On the 9th spot, Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai will ne growing with the rate of 8.17%

10.) Vijayawada, a city in Andhra Pradesh will be growing with the rate of 8.16%. This is the second largest and populous city of Andhra pradesh.

Richard Holt, head of international cities research at Oxford Economics says, "By 2036-37, the unified GDP of Indian cities will be smaller as compared to Chinese or North American or European cities. However, in terms GDP growth, it is the Indian cities that will be the star performers."

According to the forecast, in 2027, it will be the first time that combined GDP of Asian cities combines will exceed the combined GDP of North American and Europe cities
