" Be it mother or the child, at the end the debate is all about a life"

The pro-life and pro-choice movements primarily come into conflict on the issue of abortion.

The pro-life movement argues that even a non viable, undeveloped human life is sacred and must be protected by the government. Abortion must not be legal, according to this model, nor should it be practiced on an illegal basis.

The pro-choice movement argues that in pregnancies before the point of viability (when the fetus can't live outside the womb) the government doesn't have the right to impede a woman's decision to terminate the pregnancy.

It being such a sensitive issue, many people have their own beliefs; some support pro-life, some support pro choice and you'll also find a handful of people who are unable to decide what is right and what is wrong.

Why Pro-Life?

"A baby is a baby" is one quote that comes up whenever we talk about abortion. A lot of people believe that it is not the right of a woman to take away the life of the unborn. And that abortion is the same as murder, it's just that the former sounds better but is exactly the same. You don't have the right to decide whether a fetus deserves to live or not.

But is that actually what it is? Does abortion equals to murder? Well, not really.

Murder is defined as the unlawful premeditated killing of one person by another person.
Abortion is definitely not killing of a person. A lot of people argue that a fetus is a person but the fact is, it is not a person. A person has the ability to communicate and express themselves, a zygote does not. A person has the ability to think, reason and learn, a zygote does not. When it comes to determining when life begins and when does a fetus begins to have legal rights; it is an extremely complex and in depth debate.

But one thing that is definitely certain is that a zygote is not the same as a baby. Hence, abortion is clearly not a murder.

Why Pro- Choice?

Having an abortion isn't an easy decision for a woman. There are several circumstances that leave them with no choice. Let's have a look on a few of them

In case of a Rape

Imagine yourself as a 12 or 14 years old teenager carrying a child of your rapist in your womb. How do you feel? Is it really a happy feeling? Or you would feel stressed and disgusted? Looking at that child every single time will just haunt you with the flashbacks of that awful incident.

Now, let's keep the emotional factors aside for a while and talk something practical.
A 12 or 14 teenager is a child herself. Giving birth to a child at such a tender age is definitely going to have adverse effects on the health as well as the life of the mother as well as the child. She might also not be financially sufficient to raise that child. It's gonna feed nothing but it'll just ruin the life of two people - mother as well as the child.

In case of Incest

We all seem to know that incest is wrong, either through cultural conditioning or what appear to be innate evolutionary cues, yet some humans can’t seem to resist the urge to bed their relatives. The side effects of inbreeding include the increased risk of infertility, birth defects like cleft palates, heart conditions, facial asymmetry, low birth weight, slow growth rate, and neonatal mortality. One study found that 40% of children whose parents were first-degree relatives were born with autosomal recessive disorders, congenital physical malformations, or severe intellectual deficits. According to the study, when first-degree relatives mate, the risk of their child suffering from an early death, serious birth defect, or mental disability increases to almost 50 percent.Abortion for incest victims sounds compassionate, but in practice, it is simply another violent and deceptive tool in the hand of the abuser.

The other unhappy aspect of this situation is that incest, rape, and child abuse are far more common than most pro-lifers want to admit. Pamphlets, speeches, and articles regularly claim that pregnancies from incest are so rare as to be negligible. But sexual abuse of children, incestuous and otherwise, is very real, very common, and terribly underreported.

Above are just two examples, there are numerous circumstances that a woman faces and only she can understand the intensity of it.

Signing the abortion bill, Alabama government said, "...stands as a powerful testament to Alabamian's deeply held belief that every life is precious and every life is sacred gift from God."

Well it somewhere contradicts it's own statement by passing such a law. If look into the statement deeply then it says that every life is precious, which also means that even the life of the mother is as precious as the life of a child. Also, it's high time that people understand that a life is not merely about breathing but living. There's no point giving life to a baby who doesn't live but struggle and suffer pain and crises every single day.

Also, there's supposed to be a separation between church and state but this government is literally signing an anti-abortion law in God's name. It is crazy to see how 25 men decide what a woman can do with her own body. None of these men will ever be pregnant and so they cannot understand what a woman goes through, both physically and mentally. It is completely unfair of them writing such laws. Alabama has made abortion a crime even in the case of rape and incest. Although U.S. has made three exceptions i.e, rape, incest and mother's life at risk. But three exceptions is still bullshit because you are taking away women's right to choose, it is as simple as that.
