The Problem With Happy Endings

From a very young age, we are taught or at least very subtly pointed towards the idea that every story has a happy ending. Cinderella finds her prince, Snow white is magically ressuructed from the dead and Belle’s love turns the beast into a handsome prince. Hell if grim brothers saw what happened to their actual stories they would be pretty pissed stating the least.

But you see the problem is we or at least some of us, hold on to these stories and carry this philosophy into our teenage lives. With the tumblr posts of “If its nothappy its not the end” and “Everything happens for a reason”. We fool ourselves into believing that if we keep on repeating this line,this string of words long enough they will come true.

And I know some of you are reading this and shaking their heads and thinking “Nope,that’s not me”, and to that I say congratulations you have saved yourself a lot of confusion and frustation. But to those who understand what I'm saying, I got some bad news and I hate to break it to you, but sometimes things end and its not always happy.

Sometimes people leave and there is no real reason to it. They leave just because.

And I for one know that not getting reasons for the things that happen can frustrate you tono extend, make you keep questioning why something like this happened and hoping against hope that this is not the end…..because endings are meant to be happy right?

But the truth is not all endings are happy. The prince doesn’t go around to find Cinderella, he marries for the good of the kingdom, sleeping beauty sleeps a thousand years and the beast remains a beast.

Because real life isn’t something that makes sense .
Life is chaos and confusion . And that is just how it is.
