Thank God for the rich diversity of people and their culture found in our country. It is in view of that diversity that we share such an amazing and long list of cuisines or delicacies among the states of our country. Today, we'll put the focus on the Northern region of the country and its delicacies.

Chole Bhature
Coming from Punjab, Chole Bhature is a dish which is now savoured by one and all. Mainly a street food, it is eaten for breakfast and snacks. Chole Bhature is a combination of curry of chickpeas and leavened fried bread. The chickpeas curry is commonly known as Chole and the fried bread as Bhature. Bhature is prepared using white flour or maida. Along with the curry, some pickle and onion rings are also served in the plate.

Kashmiri Rogan Josh

Kashmiri Rogan Josh is a preparation of lamb with traditional spices. It is a recipe of Persian origin, where Rogan means oil and Josh means excessive heat. This dish is an authentic and flavoured lamb curry. The appearance of the dish can be described as dark red coloured curry. The red of the curry comes from the Kashmiri chillies. It is an occasional dish, usually prepared oh Sundays. It can be served with both rice and chapati.

Daal Baati Churma

Daal Baati Churma is a famous dish in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Daal is cooked using different kinds of lentils or pulses. The daal is enriched by adding vegetables and Indian spices like green chilli, red chilli, ginger, garlic, turmeric, coriander etc. Baati is a ball like structure which is made up of wheat flour. It is prepared in an oven and is served with the daal. It v is an ideal dish for North Indians during the winter season. Daal Baati Churma is a light and nutritious dish for people for all age groups.

Butter Chicken

Butter chicken is a chicken curry usually served with Tandoori roti or naan. It is very rich and spicy preparation of chicken with a layer of butter added on top of it. It is known to be popular in the state of Punjab and Delhi. It is a ritual for the north Indians to often go on a road trip, late at night to the highways around their city. They, there, look for a dhaba and sit under the open, moon-lit sky and enjoy the heavenly taste of butter chicken with tandoori roti or naan.

Baigan ka Bharta

Brinjal or eggplant is known as Baigan in Hindi. Baigan ka Bharta is a simple dish which is prepared by the north Indians very often during the winter season. The brinjal is roasted on fire until it is soft and then it is sauteed in oil, other spices and onion. It is usually served with plain chapati. This proves to be a perfect meal for a vegetarian.

The list of North Indian dishes is a long one. So, for now, I would suggest you try these dishes as these are the best and the most popular ones in North India.
