Following the roguish terrorist attacks at Uri Army Base camp in Kashmir, India takes the fight to the enemy, in its most successful covert operation till date with one and only one objective of avenging their fallen heroes.

One can feel the adrenaline thumping through the veins within the first few minutes of the movie itself. Vicky Kaushal plays a strapping and powerful Major with all his heart set into the role. The supporting cast also plays its part tremendously well. The cinematography, background scores, script writing and direction have all culminated into one hard-hitting film. As depicted in the film, the very fact that all of our soldiers came back home without a scratch speaks of a thoroughly well-planned operation, similar to what was shown in the film 'Zero Dark Thirty'. A shoutout to all the strong female actors-be it the agent, air force officer or the informant, all of whom played an essential role in the film. These are the women of today, and of the future. Strong and unafraid. Relentless in their pursuit.

While I was questioning the need for this violence and terror prevalent in the world today throughout the span of the film, I also understood that in some situations terror simply cannot be tolerated and needs to be nipped in the bud. The surgical strike stands as a united symbol of intolerance for the terror and chaos that militants mindlessly propogate. One should always wish for a more peaceful world however, for an eye for eye only leaves the whole world blind, as put to words famously by Gandhiji. One can also question the motive of such a charged film to be released right before the 2019 elections, however, I feel it is irrelevant to stress upon it too much, for at the end of the day, it shows the stark truth.

The one message to take back from the film would be respect for those at the border who are willing to leave the comfort of their homes to risk their lives for the sake of the nation, without raising any question. All in all, I believe this is a film you should give one chance to prove itself. Your "josh" levels might just get higher, because mine certainly did.

My salute to these unnamed and fearless heroes. Jai Hind.
