You begin to love darkness because in darkness you don’t have to meet people. The sound of alarm in the morning makes you terrible. Waking up from bed to do anything is a tedious task. You go through mood swings. At times you are full of possibilities, but the next second you cry for no reason.

A person who has gone through this state will feel the emotion behind these words. Yes it is depression that I am talking about. Many campaigns and institutions are spreading awareness about depression now a days. It is a good start because in the past there was a lack of conscious effortsof this kind

Depression can suck out the life from a person. Besides the psychological problem, there are many other physical problems like sleep disorders, memory loss, fatigue etc. Above all the hardest thing is to convey your feelings to a second person. The most possible reply would be “ stop imagining things” .

Depression needs to be find out at the very first sign and attended for healthy life. Having been through the phase, here are my steps to come out of it.

1. Identify the issue

The first effort must be to identify whether you are depressed or not . Think about the change in routines, moods and activity levels . Mood swings are very natural in people. You need to be careful only when the mood swings lasts for a prolonged period.

2. Seek help

You need help after having found out about your depression. Seeking help must be done wisely. Select those people who will understand about depression.An expert councillor is the best option. It’s very hard to talk during these tried . But once you let out what is in you, you are half cured.

3. Don’t be your own doctor for health issues

Sleep disorders is the main culprit here. It is natural for you to think that a good sleep will cure you. But dismiss this thought and never consume any sleeping pills or any other pills without prescription.

4. Reassure yourself

Keep saying to yourself that this is just a phase. Stay away from all the things that will depression you more ( social media, parties) . Indulge in things that will give you happiness even for a slightest time.

5. Find out the reason

Joblessness, break up, low self esteem ..our reasons to be depressed are as diverse as us. Find out that reason and work on it with a person in whom you have faith.

Don’t give up until you see that familiar smile on you. It is to the friends and family of the victim too. They need to be the pillar of support in hard times.
