We all come across the stories where some individual who never exercised, smoked whole life, and lived on a diet, and still lived 99 years or more. So why bother with healthy living, right? Well, not everyone is lucky enough to beat the diseases in a magical way. When there are people who lived decades with all their bad habits, there are also those who died at younger ages.

No one is guaranteed a healthy life. The only way to ensure avoiding diseases is following healthy habits to stay safe. So, I bring to you 10 healthy habits that will help you avoid health problems and help live longer.

1. Eat Healthy

Choosing healthful meal over the junk food and snacks is always the better choice as it helps your organs keep functional as they are desired to. Healthy diet also offers various vitamins and minerals that are required for the bodys immunity. Be sure to eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fewer processed foods.

2. Exercise Daily

Whether you choose to do the light, moderate or intensive workout, it is suggested that you make it a part of your daily routine. You may choose to jog around the park, on a walk or join a local gym, exercise will help you maintain a healthy weight and lower your cholesterol level, resulting in a healthier lifestyle.

3. Wash your hands often

It may seem quite often, but not everyone follows this habit. Most often, people avoid washing hands when they are in a hurry or getting late for offices. This may result in causing various kinds of health issues as harmful germs may enter your body and result in allergies.

4. Avoid Smoking

There is a reason why we see ‘Smoking is injurious to health’ commonly written on all packings. It's because it is really harmful to human lungs and other organs, making it essential to avoid smoking as soon as possible and give you a healthy life.

5. Avoid Alcohol Consumption

It is suggested by everyone not to drink alcohol too much as it may result in increasing your blood pressure level. If you drink more than 2 drinks per day, than you are giving your heart and other organs a tough competition and making it difficult for them to perform.

6. Cut Sweets Intake

If you eat excess sugar, it's good that you start avoiding it as it results in unwanted body fat and other health issues. Sugar has more calories than other food items, so it is good to avoid. But you can eat chocolate but in a limit.

7. Stop nose picking

If you have a bad habit of picking nose stop it. It is one of the worst health habits. It may cause and spread various infections such as common cold and flu as you allow the virus to pass through your fingers to your body.

8. Regular Bathing

A good shower not just helps you feel refreshing, but also it is necessary to remove dirt and odour from your body. Your skin has countless harmful bacteria, which may be washed away when you take bath. Clean each body part carefully, including private parts to prevent infection and foul odour.

9. Cut Nails Regularly

Long nails serve the residence of germs. When you touch anything, you invite the germs to enter into your nails. These germs then pass to your mouth, when you nibble your food and this may lead to food poisoning.

10. Sleep well

A good sleeping session is very important for a healthy life. A human can survive for weeks without eating, but cannot even for a week without sleeping. The human body needs a good sleep for 8 hours to prevent various sleep disorders.

Exceptional incidents where people lose their lives or deal with chronic diseases even while maintaining healthy lifestyles may be there, but prevention is always better than cure. And following these above mentioned is surely the best way to take the precautionary measures to stay healthy for longer and active even you are in the nineties. Apart from these habits, it's also suggested to drink enough water every day as 70% of human body is made with water so it's good to stay hydrated.
