Stress isn’t bad up to a certain level. A bit of it should be there in your life to keep you motivated but a chronic or intense stress may cause depression. It begins from mild stressed condition faced by an individual which can be caused by any small reason such as death of a loved one etc. Except people like us, bollywood celebrities have also been through such a phase of anxiety. Here are some of those celebrities who have come up and openly talked about their fight against depression which was earlier considered as taboo.
One of the most talked about and highest paid actresses suffered from depression in year 2014 while shooting for her movie “Happy New Year”. Her broken relation made her suffer through this lowest point in her life. She opened about the fact in a fundraising dinner at New York. Concentration on her work helped her with the situation. She believes patience is the biggest factor that we must look up to in or lives.
This vivacious actress suffered from anxiety during earlier stages of her career. She too underwent medication. She openly spoke about it and said that it’s completely normal. Depression for her was a sort of family problem. And the actress wants to make it a mission to take shame out of this matter and educate people about this mental illness.
Our “King Khan” of bollywood believes his shoulder injury and sufferings made him suffer through depression and anxiety. He is poor in expressing his feelings whether of love, affection or friendship. But the actor says that his family helped him a lot in overcoming this depression.
Who else can be a better example than our Yo-Yo Honey Singh for a depressed celebrities list? He faced bipolar disorder which is a mental condition where one suffers periods of depression and elevated moods. This guy faced depression and nearly got disappeared at the peak time of his career. Our Indi-pop singer was on complete bed-rest for months. His best friend, who was a business man in Australia, helped him a lot during his low phase.
Not many know about it. But it was not just Deepika but also her hubby Ranveer who has faced a depressed time in his life. It was suicide of one of his close friends who led him to depression because of feelings of guilt and grief those surrounded him. He doesn’t show his emotions in public but opens up in front of his closest ones. Deepika helped him a lot to overcome this difficult phase.
“Mr. Perfect” of Indian cinema as we call him, Aamir Khan too had a rough time towards maintaining his image. His depressing period began after his show “Satyamev Jayate”. There were practices to defame him as a Muslim terrorist, probably because of the show he did. Later the actor came out of it with help of his family and medication.
Our stars have shown courage making such revelations and these should be taken as an example by the general public. They should talk openly about their mental situations and not feel ashamed of it. "Depression" in gone days was considered as a taboo but now, people are becoming sensitive towards this issue and this is what depressed people need i.e. support of friends, family and society.
