Social media and social networking seem to play an obligatory part in the lives of people around the world. Sitting in front of a computer communicating with cyber friends can be easy but can make a person’s verbal communication skill poor. I will not only focus on the bad impacts on communication because there are some good aspects of social media on communication.

Communication is basically defined as the act of communicating; exchange of information, feelings or ideas. Communication involves the transfer of knowledge or information from one individual or a group of individual to others. It is a complete part of everyone’s life.

Approachableness that one has to the internet through smartphones, personal computers, tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices has made advancing information and connecting with people a touch away in some cases. People are communicating all day every time though texting, e-mail, and social media. Social media has become the new pattern when it comes to communicating everything from important life events like marriage ceremony and the birth of a child to minor life events like the place one had gone on holiday.

I am quite interested in the role social media plays in communication as I use some practice every day and notice that it is becoming an increasing trend. I have found myself controlling my Facebook page without even thinking about it. So, one should use social media and network up to a limit and for a time limit.
