She took us to a world we thought we could resist,
But now we want this world to actually exist.
Where few chants brought magic alive,
Riding those broomsticks that once appeared naive.
Friend of Ronald and Hermione, was an orphan,
A mark on his forehead, he was the one, fate had chosen.
There are various movies and books that leave us begging for more. They not only create a world in our imagination, but they also succeed in making people believe that they exist. And some fans cross the upper-most limit of their fandom by making cafes, adventure parks and etc. based on their themes. I don't know about any other such, but I, being a Potterhead, always wanted a real Hogwarts. I mean a real school for dark arts and witchcraft. Magic would have been more than just a hoax then. Having witches and magicians as our professors! Wouldn't that be wonderful?
You can become a Potterhead by two ways: by starting the novel series, or by watching the movie series. I became one when I saw the movies. Based on the novels of the same name, penned by J.K. Rowling (our real goddess of this witchcraft), I didn't realise that how did I become a Potterhead, from being a sceptic. I remember saving in my calender the date of release of every movie of the series. I even used to save my pocketmoney only to buy Harry Potter goodies. With the release of every new movie, our level of fandom just kept on increasing. While we liked our name -Potterheads, we started calling ourselves Gryffindor.
From addressing our school's principal as Dumbledore, to making our least favourite teacher as the Voldemort of our lives, He who must not be named!
We Potterheads always wanted a professors like Mcgonagle, Snape and Dumbledore; a caretaker like Hagrid. We always wanted a group of three; a girl like Hermione, a best friend like Ronald and obviously, each of us being Harry of the group. We always wished that one morning our parents will come to us and say, " You have blood of a magician running in your veins.", while they handover an the ancestral magic-wand to us.
The magic spells are probably our secret language. In any tough situation, God's name is second, Expecto Patronum is first, hoping that the Stag Patronus will come to our rescue. Our firecest enemy is the Voldemort to our Harry Potter. Standing in front of any random flight of stairs, in pursuit of that one slight chance that they will move. They do move In that shopping mall)! Does that make Otis Co. a real life Rowena Ravenclaw?!
Rowling took us to a world we really wanted to exist. And now we feel like a part of it. Being a Potterhead made me realise that any life-problem is handleable. There is magic in this world, because you are your own world. The magic is in you. The magic is you. And whenever a critic or a criticizer finds loopholes, take that wand out and chant - EXPECTO PATRONUM
