Should Euthanasia be banned
Euthanasia also referred to as physician-assisted suicide is intentionally ending a life in order to free the patient from continuous unbearable pain.Euthanasia has been one of the most debatable topics till date. In some countries it has been accepted but, most of them are against it and it could also lead to imprisonment.
Does the decision depend only on the consent of the concerned person?
It depends on the scenario, whether the person is able to take this decision or not. When Euthanasia is conducted after receiving the green light from the concerned person then it is considered as voluntary Euthanasia. And if this case is reversed or when someone else takes this decision in accordance with the person then it is considered as involuntary Euthanasia.
The first countries to legalize euthanasia was the Netherlands in 2001 and Belgium in 2002. When a person is in the vegetative state then it is better to end his/her life by euthanasia but there's always a second side of a coin.
In this situation, the second side is quite gloomy. Additionally, it affects not only the desired person but also, everyone associated with him. Especially in the condition of involuntary euthanasia. There will be guilt, remorse, anger, frustration, and sadness associated with the decision of choosing death. In this way, it is considered improper to demand death when so much depends on a person.
Moreover, giving up one's life just for the sake of pain is not acceptable sometimes. People fear that with the increasing cost of the medical treatments Euthanasia might be considered nonchalant in the near future even when they have a chance to cure the disease. No matter, how personal this solution will be but it would definitely influence society. In effect, the legalization of euthanasia would help all those who wish to die with dignity.
Nevertheless, banning Euthanasia is not the solution to this controversy. In addition to this, strict laws must be amended to monitor patients who undergo Euthanasia. It should be the extreme condition under which they had to go through this. Remember that your life is extremely precious and there are many ups and downs in this journey so, never give up.
It is a process that will take a while, while the pros and cons of euthanasia are considered, and till all human beings are convinced that it may be a boon when viewed from the perspective of the right to life.
