We teenagers as students, and adults being ex-students can easily understand the pressure a student goes through during his/her study life, be it school years for getting good grades or be it college life for getting good jobs. We are always worried about our performance in every field, especially academics. Students fail in balancing their lives between schoolwork, homework, extra curricular activities, social life, healthy diet and adequate hours of sleep. They are pushed beyond their limits and boundaries to excel and please those who push them. They start obsessing over grades and thus lose sleep and seclude themselves from other aspects of life. Not going out for a stroll, no meetings with friends and family and not having time for oneself is something everyone of them experiences.

Parental pressure and that from teachers is the biggest reason for stress that students endure. Parents dream of their kids to fulfill the fantasies and wishes they once had but couldn't make them true due to some or the other reason. Teachers pressurise students to perform well as it would eventually showcase their performance. Competing schools and institutes compel gullible minds to keep themselves busy with books and hold high positions in academics. Pressure from teachers, parents and peers force many to take up subjects not of their choice, especially after completion of Class 10, ending up frustrating their lives.

But there are some other reasons as well. Admission in a good college is very difficult for an average student nowadays. Number of applicants increase every year with negligible hike in the number of good colleges. This competition builds up pressure in every student. Continuous tests, extra classes and loads of revisions keep him/her always stressful. They can never feel over prepared and thus stay up till late nights to mug up the things and theories to achieve a good score in the upcoming exam. Grades are considered more crucial than knowledge and accepting the facts rather than pondering and questioning over them becomes a norm. Encouraging children to take up co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are fine as long as they are enjoying it and not tiring themselves.

Due to this insane competition, many students suffer from blood pressure problems and hypertension at an early age. Haunting nightmares of failure keep them nervous and tensed all the time. And those poor ones who fail to cope up with all these end up taking their lives. The ever rising suicide cases are no new to anyone. This robot generation process should be put to a halt and children should be allowed to be themselves. They should be allowed to enjoy the rains, play for fun and not for winning trophies and live life to the fullest. An appropriate amount of pressure and guidance can shape their future in the right direction but an excess of it can completely devastate the raw mould.
