The alarm screeched and I leaped out of bed and sprinted for my exam, cramming in whatever I could as I neared the hall. “It’s the last one, then there’s over a month of free time to look forward to”, I consoled myself as I walked to my seat. As time progressed, so did my final days of college and I was caught in the temporary euphoria of freedom. The going was smooth and the initial days at home were a transit between the bed, sofa and the fridge with me carrying my highness with me all the time, my phone. Slowly it dawned on me, that this routine would rust my brain and bloat my body and so I decided to turn off my phone and turn on my productivity.

My first thought was to get my body moving. Food is our fuel and our body is our engine, so how can an engine keep consuming fuel without running even a mile? I had to be active, so I chose to join the gym for a month. In addition, I started helping around the house by chopping vegetables, folding clothes, clearing out shelves and running several errands. My parent gaped at the transformation they witnessed and wanted to confirm if this really was their daughter. But I for one felt elated at being of use to someone other than myself.

Now, I thought that it was time to exercise what’s upstairs and so, I made a reading list. Shortly, I ordered 4 books and made it my goal to finish them. I also started reading the newspaper instead of looking at one line of news notifications. It was paramount to keep my reading habit in check to avoid losing touch and I could also improve my vocabulary side by side. Virtual time transformed into real time in no time.

This rudimentary level of planning was sufficient to keep me occupied for most of the day with little time to spare for personal entertainment. I could watch prime videos, write a blog and keep in touch with family and friends. To sum it all up, this is my guide to spending a month combining elements of usefulness and fun. If you’re on a vacation with time to spare, this may be areference worth citing.
