Indian elections are going on whereas elections in Australia are scheduled on 18th May. Both the countries are among the regional power but there are vast differences in the approach towards elections from both the sides. Indian Elections are more focussed towards Religion biases, strikes on Pakistan, army politicisation and Hinduism whereas on the other side Elections in Australia are more inclined towards climate change and energy policies and schemes which are beneficial to people.

A narrow view on Indian Elections:

Indian Elections are estimated to cost more than 1 trillion rupees i.e. $14 billion. Also, Experts says that 2019 General elections could be world's most expensive. The result of India's general election is scheduled on 23rd May. The flowing of money in Indian Elections is also not clear i.e. there is virtually zero transparency when it comes to showing political contributions. In 2014 Elections, Manifestos of big Political Parties were full of development related schemes and plans like "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan", "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" etc. but in 2019 one can only see things related to Regional biases, Hindutva, Nationalism and Army Politicisation. We have been shifted from a 'Development focussed' approach to a 'Religion focussed' approach. Election Commission of India is not playing a fair role in this elections as we have seen many political parties breaking the Model Code of Conduct. India is considered to be the largest Democracy in the world but the things written about do not makes us liable to that title. Climate conditions are getting worse day by day, 1000s of people are dying every day due to pollution but still none of the Political Parties are interested in seeing this as an issue. All of them are focussing on their Political vote banks.

A narrow view on Australian elections:

Australia's elections are scheduled on 18th May. Australian Government have had 6 changing of Prime Minister in the last 12 years. But growth is slowing and change in Climate and Energy Policies has emerged as a major issue after the country's hottest summer on record. The world's driest inhabited continent is facing its own vulnerability to the effects of global warming. On the other hand, opposition parties are promising to improve education system and healthcare in Australia. Some topics which are being focussed in their elections includes Climate change, Environment, Coal-generated power, fair wages to people, tight regulations on carbon emission.

Political Parties in India needs to change their focus from "Political approach" to "Development approach".
