1. One such initiative is taken by Birla group by the launch of ‘LIVA’. Liva falls and drapes according to the body and moves with the body. These fibers are not only eco-friendly but versatile and beautiful. Birla cellulose is increasingly engaging with big brands.

2. ‘AIR DYEING’ is also introduced, it lowers water contamination. It could cut out some 2.4 trillion gallons of water used in synthetic dyeing. One drawback is it is only developed to dye cotton

3. Another recent development is ‘WATER FREE STONE WASHING OF DENIM’. The biotechnologically developed enzymes are biodegradable and do not interfere with nature’s balance.

4. Netherlands launched the ‘WORLD’S FIRST EVER DYEING MACHINES’ that use super carbon dioxide as a replacement of water. The only limitation of this is it can be applied to scoured polyester.

These technologies need to be studies and should be developed for all types of fabrics to lessen pressure on environment.
