At the hospital, when babies are born they are either wrapped in pink or blue blankets depending on their gender. As early as our first few moments in the world, we are burdened by ideas of what it means to be a girl or a boy. I am a 19-year old girl and I would rather prefer to wear blue t-shirts and not pink. I recall my 6th-grade classroom. The desks were arranged in a row of six and I sat in the corner. My classmates used to bully me because they thought I was an easy target and I would never speak up for myself. I feel things deeply and I am sensitive to pain.

I don’t believe in fighting and that doesn’t mean that I can be labelled as weak. Just because I am a quiet, well-dressed girl doesn’t mean that I am not as strong as anyone else. Since girls have a different point of view on different things, they are considered powerless and weak. I was once having a conversation with my brother and I was surprised listening to his thoughts about what a girl should be like. According to him, the girl is the one who should always be well-dressed, hair properly set. I just couldn’t believe how the ideas of the society had overpowered a 13-year old.

Girls don’t dress up to get the attention of people. I am a girl who prefers to wear comfortable clothes rather than wondering if the shirt looks right. Every individual has a different opinion on what a girl is supposed to wear. So it is better to dress up the way we love rather than focusing on what others think about us. I love being the hard worker that I am and that clearly doesn’t mean that I am not intelligent. It just means that I want to give a 100 percent of my efforts in everything that I do. I want to succeed in life and fulfil my dream rather than impressing others.

Wow...A very frank account of what it feels like to be a girl. You gave a clear voice to the thoughts of every girl. Well done. :) But try separating it into different paragraphs. That will make it easier to read
