It is also called as alpinism which was born in 19th century. Activities include climbing ,hiking ,skiing,transversing. It's specializations include rock,snow,ice .
Alpine style-
Climbing medium sized glaciated mountains areas such as Alps or Rocky Mountains which consists of height 7000ft to 12000ft
Expedition style-
Used on large and isolated peaks.
Some of the them are Climbing World Championship,Climbing World Cup, European Climbing Championship, Sportroccia, Rock Master, Melloblocco,Its going to become Olympic sport in 2020.
