The first question is something immediate-And immediately, we need humanitarian aid to be allowed into the Sudan before it becomes the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. ~ George Clooney.

A palatial country on the banks of the omnipotent White river Nile has, in the recent times, turned into an abysmal state of dismay. Sudan observed what is regarded as the worst humanitarian crisis in the history of the world when the pro-democracy protestors were killed in a sweeping crackdown by the paramilitary forces in numbers as large as 124, as reported by the protestors.

The White Nile metamorphosed into red when not less than 40 corpses of the protestors slain by the barbaric Sudanese forces were recuperated from the river.

The protests initially began on December 2018 to overthrow the autocratic and diabolical rule of the former President Hassan al-Bashir who had been reigning the country for the last 3 decades. Al-Bashir resigned on April 11,2019. The acrimony of the Sudanese civilians owe its advent to the skyrocketing prices of essentials like food items and fuel prices.

In April, the military arrested Al-Bashir amidst the mass protests and overtook the governance of the state, headed largely by Gen Mohamed Hamdan "Hemeti" Dagolo, who has been instrumental in various war crimes and atrocities commited in Darfur. A mass massacre of the protestors took place on June 3 with over 124 people loosing their lives and over 300 severely wounded. Their only crime was to demand the TMC to cede power to an interim administration led by the civilians.

The horrors of the incident are bone chilling to say the least. It's perturbing to even imagine that hundereds of civilians who have long faced the qualms of a cribbling economy, infringement of basic human rights and have lived in a country characterised by a flimsy excuse of a democracy are still being treated like vermins at the hands of their own military forces. The national fabric of the country has been terribly dismantled and is in need of an immediate and urgent humanitarian aid.

In this day and age of the ubiquitousness of social media, news promulgates swiftly acorss the globe within seconds which has materialised itself as a blessing in dusguise for the grief stricken Sudanese people as they managed to garner Worldwide support in the form of financial, medical and moral aid. A student of the Brunel University was mercilessly slain by the Sudanese militia on attempting to protect the women protestors. In order to honour his gallantry and altruism, social media was awash by blue DPs, another purpose being to spread awareness about the ongoing inhumane slaughter and bestial treatment of the innocent civilians for demanding basic rights which every human being is entitled to.

During the moments of crisis like these, we, rising above differences in our religious, cultural or sexual orientations, should act as world citizens and be the voices of those whose hues and helpless whimpers for a better life have been muffled by the ruthless and draconian forces.
