Said to be faster than trains, safer than cars and less damaging to the environment than aircrafts, hyperloop technology is quickly gaining attraction. Hyperloop is a new form of ground transort system currently under development, which could see passengers travelling at 1,220 kmph in floating pods within low-pressure tubes.

Why is Hyperloop so special

Hyperloop varies from normal rails in two important situations. The pods carrying passengers travel through tubes or tunnels from which most of the air has been removed to reduce the friction This allows the pods to travel up to 1,220 kmph which is far more than traditional rails. Rather than using wheels like trains or cars, the pods are designed to float on air skis, using the same basic idea as an air hockey table, or use magnetic leviation to reduce friction. A number of companies are working to turn this into a functioning commercial system.

History and Future of 'HYPERLOOP'

The idea of using low pressure or vaccum tubes as a part of transport system has a long heritage. The Crystal Palace pneumatic railway used air pressure to push a wagon uphill in 1864. Similar systems using pneumatic tubes to send mail and packages betwwn buildings have been in use in the late nineteenth century, and can still be seen in supermarkets and banks to move money around today. One clear predecessor of the Hyperloop is the 'Vactrain' developed by Robert Goddard in the early twentieth century; since then, many smilar ideas have been proposed without much success.

Hyperloop technology is still in development even though the basic concept has been around for many years as discussed earlier. At the momet, the earliest any Hyperloop is likely to be up and running in 2021.

Why Hyperloop

Hyperloop is significantly better than high-speed rail. It is lower cost and more energy efficient because, among other things, the track does not need to provide power to the pods continuosly and, because the pods can leave evry 30 seconds, it is more like an ondemand service. It is also potentially two or three times faster than even high-speed rail and ten times faster than the speed of regular rail services.

Hyperloop is not only designed to carry passengers, but transport goods as well. This will improve delivery time, damage of packages, delivery cars or other vehicles, resulting in less emissions. Hyperloop is one of the most advanced technologies in transportation to date, and it has created a massive shift in human ingenuity. Whether it is slow or fast, Hyperloop posess very effective and promising oppurtunities for the society.
