IPL'19 has begun and this will get all the Dhoni fans excited as he'll be captaining the franchise once again.

After fanboying for almost a decade I was intrigued by this question, ” How is Dhoni this successful?” So I began to study him(I was still fanboying). After reading and watching many interviews this is what I found. Before we begin let me tell you it’s easy to follow these:-

1)Be selfless
This is the very first point, it is important for you to be selfless. Let me explain by relating this to the man himself, how often have we seen Dhoni spending time with youngsters? He spends most of time with youngsters helping them shape their game in the best possible way. This being the IPL season many CSK players were accounted saying , The captains' room is always open for anyone to go and approach him". How did Dhoni begin this practice? Going back to the past we see that he learnt the tricks of the game from his seniors. And he himself admitted that he spends most of the time with youngsters trying to break the ice. He let his secret out – SELFLESS.

2)Know your limitations

Have you ever spent your time, energy, money etc in something more than once and failed to achieve the desired result? Yes, you might have and this is probably because you didn’t know your limitation(s). Knowing your limitation is a key contributor on the path to achieve success. Let’s see what the man, Ms Dhoni did with regard to this aspect. Going back to IPL’18 CSK had all ageing players in their side. For the captain this was a huge constraint as the team won’t be sharp in fielding. So after realizing this how did he counter? He asked the players not fancy risky catches in the field but asked them to compensate it by using their experience in batting and bowling. This would have not been possible without knowing the team’s limitation.

3)Keep it simple aka Mahi way

Knowing your limitations solves major part of the puzzle, upon understanding that you get an idea as to what not to do. Once the destination becomes clear all that’s required is to keep it simple, stay in the present and trust the process. Keep doing what’s just required in a fair manner to reach your mark.

4)Let go of uncontrollable

The extension of the previous point leads me to this. More often than not we get lost in the thought of "what might happen", rather than trying to control the uncontrollable, stay in the present. Let it go and focus on what’s asked.

5)It’s all the same

Check any tournament that Dhoni was a part of and check the photo where the team celebrates with the trophy, you’ll see a man in the corner, that’s the captain, that’s MS Dhoni. How did he cultivate this? Talking about this, the selfless man told that he sees both the win and defeat the same way. He continued, nobody owns anything; I own the trophy today and tomorrow someone else might.

Maybe we all should try following the Dhoni way.
