I believe that art plays a very important role in our lives. As kids we all were made to do art, music and dance in school but as we grew older, we let go of them. We get busy with studying and feel like we no longer have time for what we did before. We must always keep a hobby that we love. Art is not just important for development of the mind but it has been proven to be a great outlet for those in any kind of emotional distress. Art gives a child the freedom to express themselves. Other than the conventional form of art that is painting one can write poems or stories as well. A child should be given the freedom to be involved in any form of art. An article by Psychology today said “Art reflects culture, transmits culture, shapes culture, and comments on culture. There is just no way that animals can possibly experience art as we do.” This shows that humans have had a deep and intricate relationship with art.
History suggests that art has existed in society since we lived in caves. Cavemen used to paint in their caves and make illustrations of them hunting or performing some kind of rituals. That shows the significance that art holds. We can communicate so much through art, music and dance. The rawness of all the emotions whether it’s happiness or sadness is expressed beautifully. Opera is a perfect example in this case. It is a form of theatre which involves multiple aspects such as singing, acting and sometimes dance as well. Those who perform in the opera are able to flawlessly narrate stories.
Art can be an escape as well. At times you need to step back and get away from the chaotic life that we all lead. Art is perfect for that because then you divert your mind from all the burdens of life and focus on what you will paint or maybe even compose a poem or song.
My favourite art quotes:
Art must be life — it must belong to everybody. Marina Abramović
The greater the artist, the greater the doubt. Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. Robert Hughes
Art is standing with one hand extended into the universe and one hand extended into the world, and letting ourselves be a conduit for passing energy. Albert Einstein
Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures. Henry Ward Beecher
