Just when it seems like everything has been investigated, we stumble upon a new fact. Likewise, there are still many places on earth where there was no man before. Here are the six such mysterious lost worlds on our planet.

6. Sima humboldt

On a remote plateau of Venezuela there are many funnels formed due to corrosion. In 1961 a group of explorers discovered one such almost circular funnel 314 meters deep, the largest one of them till now and it is named ‘Sima humboldt’. The funnel is so vast inside that it has its own ecosystem. Researchers found a plethora of scientifically unknown plants. Like a lost world in our own planet.

5. Spine of Scotia, South Oceana

Deep under the water in South Oceana there is a unique water site found in 2012. Temperature here goes up to 382 degree Celsius. In the dark, warm environment, scientists have found new species such as albino octopus and albino crab that grows bacteria on its claws to detoxify the poisoned water.

4. Cave of Movile, Romania

During geological investigation for constructing power plant in 186, at a depth of just 18 meters researchers found a closed cave system in the rocks, fed by subterranean water. This ecosystem, remained separated for 5 million years. 46 new species of living organisms were found, due to absence of light they grew without any need of eyes. Although they could sense slightest vibration, oriented to smell and sound.

3. Mount Roraima, South America

Mount Roraiam is the highest Venezuelan mountain. In the mysterious place, explorers have found a weird animal, named ‘caborosaurus’, resembling a horse head and humped body along with ants of more than 5cm in length. The most amazing discovery was the remains of ancient animals that lived here recently. Expected to be experimented and erased by aliens as researchers have found large circular patches on field with no vegetation and silvery sprinkle of alloy with elements not from our periodic table.

2. Challenger abyss

The deepest point in Mariana trench is 10971m deep where as the tallest mountain, the Mount Everest is 8848 meters. At a depth of 1600m, hydrothermal spring raises the water temperature to 450 degree Celsius. The pressure being whopping 155 times that of atmospheric pressure doesn`t allow the water to boil. At the bottom, there is a whole new world with strange creatures like 10cm amoebae where as ordinarily they are half a millimeter. Scientists suggest, high pressure, temperature and no light have resulted in such growth.

1. Lake Vostok

One of largest lakes on our planet has been separated from us for nearly 15 million years by a 4km thick glacier. Scientists and researchers have sampled materials from its surface invaluable to science. They have discovered a lot of living organisms who’s DNA doesn’t belong to any species known to science till now.

There are still thousands of places right on our planet still left unexplored. No one knows what surprises might come out of the lost worlds on Earth.
