I’m a person who's answer is always “yes”. Quite often I find myself thinking “no no no” but utter out “yes”. Why is it difficult to say a simple word “no”? Are you facing the same problem? After all, it’s just a word. I kept asking myself, how are we going to feel down if we say something that we don’t like or not interested in?
Why is it necessary to please everyone? One day we all are going to disappear from this world and what are we going to gain by pleasing others? Even if there is any point in pleasing others, they’ll just be happy for a few seconds and then they’ll just forget it. The point is that we’ll be stressed because of it. Most of us fear to say “no” because we are afraid of rejection. We have a burning agitation in us whether we’ll make the opponent angry or make them get hurt. We also overthink if we might be rude to others and as a result, they may start hating us.
Whether others creates a negative or positive image about us shouldn’t be our matter tomorrow. Throughout the thought of what other’s will think of me, whether they’ll create a negative image among others and will everyone ignore me. I know it’s very difficult to say “no”. Saying “no” doesn’t mean that you are being selfish or rude. These are just excuses given by weak personalities.
Have you ever wondered why an infant can say “no” easily and why is it difficult for an elderly person? Both are moreover the same person, just they have grown up. What happened? As a child, we always gave priority to our feelings. Yeah, we were selfish. Being selfish is impolite but always sacrificing our happiness is equal to being impolite to oneself. During our childhood elders gave us the statements that saying no was impolite or inappropriate. If we say no to our elders, we were most considered having the worst behaviour. We still follow that in a wrong way.
“Live your life for you not for anyone else. Don’t let the fear of being judged, rejected or disliked stop you from being yourself”, once said by Sonya Parker inspired me a lot. Are you inspired? Are you ready to be unique? Are you ready to lift your head up and say “no” aloud? There is no tomorrow, so come join me and let’s change our attitude and make ourselves happy first. Be a different person from this second onwards.
