Has anyone told you about being an adult? Or being mature? How does it feel to listen that you’re mature or not at all mature? What is this maturity? How does it feel like being mature? Why is it so important in our adulthood and seems very harmful if we adopt it in an early age? Does maturity depend on our age? Like, we don’t think about this word ‘maturity’ in a very deep sense but it also plays an important role in our lives.

Maturity is a period of time of being adult not just physically but mentally also. Basically, maturity depends on our minds and thought process. Usually, people say maturity comes with age, some say it comes with experiences but, maturity actually depends on the self-introspection of a person. When a person knows how to deal with his/her own problems, when they are well aware of their actions and reactions, when they know to take stand for themselves and when they become completely accountable for their own decisions and mistakes, these are the qualities which make a person Mature.

Maturity makes a person tough and practical. Sometimes, it feels good to be a mature and being treated as an adult but so many times it sucks. With maturity, a person is burdened with responsibility but in all this process of acting like an adult, people lose their innocence and emotions. It becomes an obligation for an adult person to act mature otherwise people will call them weird and childish.

Maturity is a character trait which separates us from our childhood. It’s easy to excuse the mistake of 5- year- old child by terming it as their innocence but it’s tough to excuse the mistake of 45- year- old person and they are termed as immaturity and irresponsible. An immature person isn’t aware of the difference between reality and fantasies. And when we make them face the reality of this world, which they never imagined and experienced, they become depressed and sad.

Maturity of a person also depends on the character traits and profession they choose. People have different character traits some has good and some have bad traits. We see so many children who act and talk like adults, this is because of their character traits that let them adopt maturity at an early age. A 17-year-old, who is taking responsibility for his actions, is more mature than a 27-year-old man who is blaming others for his own actions. Most of the time, when a person faces bad days, he/she usually loses their temper in some of the situations but if a person handles his worst situations instead of running from them and is capable of taking right decisions in that mood also and know how to keep themselves calm, then we can say that the person is mature.

If you’re screwing up at times, don’t blame anyone because your life is your responsibility and you should be accountable for your actions.
