Stress, in easy terms is a feeling or emotion that arises in humans when they are overloaded and overburdened. They struggle on how to cope with these feelings .These struggles are related to daily activities like monetary activities , their professional work , their relationships , and some other situations, or anything that brings a real challenge or threat to a person's well-being and can cause stress. Stress may affect your health and you might not even realize it. You may consider illness to be the reason for that irritating headache, your insomnia or decrease in productivity at work. But stress would actually be the cause. When the person is crowded with multiple stressful situations that occur at the same time, it can badly harm a person's mental and physical health. But stress can be considered to be a motivator too . Some facts related to stress are as follows :

  • Stress helps the body in preparing for the upcoming danger.

  • The symptoms of stress can be taken up as both physiological and psychological

  • Short-term stress is quite helpful, but long-term stress is linked to various health conditions that can cause damage to our body

  • We can get ourselves prepared for stress by learning some self-management tips.

  • This is how our body reacts when we are in a condition of stress :

  • There is a rise in blood pressure and heart rate

  • Breathing tends to become faster

  • The digestive system starts to work slowly

  • Our immune system gets weaker

  • the muscles become tense

Types of stress

There are basically 3 types of stress

1. Acute stress

Acute stress is a common type of stress. It’s just an immediate reaction of one’s body to a new challenge, event, or demand, and it triggers your fight-or-flight response that whether to face it or to ignore and move on .

2 . Episodic acute stress

When acute stress occurs frequently, it’s called episodic acute stress. People who face episodic acute stress are often short-tempered, irritable, and anxious.

3. Chronic stress

When acute stress doesn’t get resolved and begins to increase and lasts for a longer period of time, it becomes chronic stress. This stress is constant and doesn’t go away with time

Few Tips for reducing stress

People who manage stress live happier, healthier lives. begin with the following tips to break the stress :

  • Keep a positive attitude within you and always think of positivity and firstly believe in yourself

  • You need to accept that there are few events that are out of control

  • instead of becoming angry, getting defensive in each situation think assertively

  • Learn and practice various relaxation techniques; try for meditation, yoga, or any other method like music

  • Regular exercise can help in fighting stress better way .

  • Eat healthy and well-balanced meals.

  • Set limits accordingly and say no to requests that can bring excessive stress in your life.

  • Make time for your hobbies and interests as it can reduce stress much faster

  • Get enough rest and sleep. Your body needs enough time to recover from stressful events so proper sleep is very important

  • Don't rely on alcohol, drugs, or such kind of means to reduce stress.

  • Seek out social support. Spend enough time with those you love i.e. your family and friends .
