A medical crisis is looming over India and it’s not about an epidemic or any deadly diseases. It’s about the survival of our saviors. They demand an answer from the government that why the constitution of India doesn’t protect us?

Paribaha Mukhopadhyay and several doctors at Kolkata's NRS Medical College were assaulted by a mob of around 150, over the death of a family member. The patient has suffered a depressed fracture in the right frontal region, he is reported to be stable but kept under observation in ICU for 24 hours.

This was the last straw for our doctors and the frequent news of thrashing of doctors has resulted in massive protests throughout the country and also raised concerns regarding the security of doctors.

Things started to get worse when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responded to the Mayhem. She issued an ultimatum to the doctors who boycotted work. Either return to work or resign. The statement hit a nerve and following, many doctors are now choosing to resign. The sense of insecurity overwhelmed them and now, are looking for laws to secure their security and grant them a right to work in a safe environment.

On Friday, more than 700 doctors (including junior doctors, interns, and senior doctors’ etc) have resigned in West Bengal

The Delhi Medical Association (DMA) urged its members to observe a "Black Day" against the brutal attack on Thursday

Simultaneously, members of IMA (Indian Medical Association) a leading medical body, will send an appeal to the prime minister and the Union home minister, demanding a central Act on violence against doctors and hospitals.

Following the agitation that started from Kolkata on Tuesday, the Delhi Medical Association (DMA), also called for a total boycott on Friday to protests for the injured doctor and their rights.

Several resident doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi worked with bandages on their heads as a symbolic protest.

Emergency wards, outdoor facilities, pathological units of many government medical colleges and hospitals, and a number of private medical facilities in West Bengal have remained closed over the past two days to protest.

Now, the CM has invited a group of protesting doctors for talks and negotiation but they refused the invitation. They demanded the CM to apologize and visit the injured the doctor. Until then, the strike remains with no end in sight.
