EDUCATION

1.Door Step School

It’s safe to say that doorstep school uses an initiative approach to promote education welfare. Doorstep school helps to provide education for children living below poverty in where usually both the parents are working as construction workers, drainage cleaners, or are pavement dwellers etc.

Their main goal is to avail compulsory education for children up to 14 years.

2.Teach for India

It is one of the massive NGO’s working for the past 19 years and is the part of a global network, Teach For All. They recruit college graduates and working professionals to serve as full-time teachers in low-income schools for two years

Teach for India is striving to end the problem of educational inequity in India and provide an excellent education to all children.

3.Daughter of Moon

The NGO is very open about sharing the child’s details you are sponsoring like Aadhar Card Number (of either of their parent), telephone number. Moreover, sponsors can request for attending parents teacher meeting for their ward which helps them to keep a track of the child’s academic performance.

WOMEN

1.AAWC – Apne Aap Women’s Collective

The NGO focuses on the rehabilitation of women and children who have been victims of prostitution and human trafficking and work to educate and train them to get them to excel in other fields.

It consists of two centres, one in the Khetwadi lanes and another in the Kamathipura lanes, these two places are known to be the oldest and largest red-light districts in Asia.

2.SNEHA – Society for Nutrition, Education & Health Action

Their main aim is to prevent violence against women and children. Not only violence but also targeting concerning issues and working on maternal and infant health, child health and nutrition etc.

They work in low-income areas where generally infants catch life-threatening diseases and where women are more likely to be abused.

LGBTQ+

1.Humsafar Trust

It is one of the oldest or perhaps can even be the first NGO which was so vocal about LGBTQ rights. It is founded by a gay journalist, Ashok Row Kavi. The trust works towards providing healthcare to HIV/AIDS patients of the community, guidance on mental health issues. The unique thing about this trust that it also provides legal aid and guidance.

2.Gay Bombay

It is a safe space for the queer community. The aim of this NGO is to normalize the idea of LGBT in conservative societies. It organizes talks and workshops regarding issues like depression, HIV/AIDS stigma, and financial stability
